It is infact the oldest surviving institution in Darjeeling. It was established in 1951 and initially typing and shorthand certificate courses were conducted. The Polden Commercial Institute has been helping the local peo

ple get employment by molding them into expert typists and excellent skilled shorthand writers. Having decades of experience in training and helping people, we have decided to step into other domain and offer our services in the language sectors and have started teaching English and Nepali to anyone who seeks to have command over the English or Nepali language. The institute not only caters to the local people but to the Thai students and Monks who want to learn or improve their English; they also teach Nepali to Americans or to anyone else who wants to learn the English and Nepali language. We offer intensive English and Nepali courses with materials ranging from books to computers to interactive group classes. Our typing and shorthand classes are also equally intensive with a variety of charts and lessons to practise from. The institute is run, managed and taught by the owner and her daughter, both of them have been educated in the best schools in Darjeeling starting from Bethany, Loreto Convent and Mount Hermon.
