पंच शील :

(Five Precepts)

1.पाणातिपाता वेरमणी, सिक्खापदं समादियामी
Panatipata veramini sikkhapadam samadiyaami
मैं प्राणी हिंसा से विरत रहने की शिक्षा ग्रहण करता /करती हूँ।
I undertake to observe the precept to abstain from killing of living beings

2.अदिन्नादाना वेरमणी, सिक्खापदं समादियामी
Adinnadana veramini sikkhapadam samadiyaami
मैं चोरी से विरत रहने की शिक्षा ग्रहण करता/करती हूँ।
I undertake to observe the precept to abstain from not taking what is not given(theft/stealing).

3.कामेसुमिच्छाचारा वेरमणी, सिक्खापदं समादियामी
Kamesu micchachara veramini sikkhapadam samadiyaami
मैं कामेसु (कामादि )मिच्छा (मिथ्या )आचरण से विरत रहने की शिक्षा ग्रहण करता /करती हूँ।
I undertake to observe the precept to abstain from sexual misconduct etc.

4.मूसावादा वेरमणी, सिक्खापदं समादियामी
Musavada veramini sikkhapadam samadiyaami
मैं मूसा (झूठ )वचन से विरत रहने की शिक्षा ग्रहण करता /करती हूँ।
I undertake to observe the precept to abstain from false speech/talking lies.

4.सुरामेरय-मज्ज पमादठाना वेरमणी, सिक्खापदं समादियामी
Sura-meraya-majja pamadatthana veramini sikkhapadam samadiyaami
मैं शराब, मेरय (एक प्रकार की मदिरा ) जुआदि के पमाद (प्रमाद ) से विरत रहने की शिक्षा ग्रहण करता /करती हूँ।
I undertake to observe the precept to abstain from taking intoxicating drinks and drugs causing indolence.

एउटा गरिब ब्याक्तिले गौतम् बुद्धलाई सोधे 'भगवान बुद्ध "म यस्तो गरिब भएको कारण के होला "बुद्धले "तिमीले अरुलाई दान नगरेको काराणले गर्दा हो भनेर जबाफ दिए़ बुद्धको उपदेश सुनें पछि त्यों गरिबले भन्यो मलाई दान गर्ने धन सम्पत्ति केहि छैन मैले के दान गर्नु र "बुद्धले 'तिमीलाई दान गर्ने घनसम्पति नभए पनि दान गर्ने केहि चिज छ । त्यों के हो भने पहिलो–१अाफ्नो अनुहार को मुस्कान अरुलाई देखाऊनु
दोस्रो–,२आँखाले अरुलाई दयाले हेर्नु
तेस्रो–३मुखले अरुको गुण व्याक्त गर्नु
चौथों ४मन ले अर्काको भलो सोच्नु पाँचों -५शरिरले अरुलाई सम्मान गर्नु भनेर बुद्धले भन्नु भएका थिए...
