Discover a Unique Learning Experience for your son at Bhaktivedanta Gurukula, Urulikanchan, Pune, India 412202

Dear Parent,
I hope this message finds you well! As you consider your child’s educational journey, I wanted to reach out personally to share a bit about what makes Bhaktivedanta Gurukula such a transformative environment for young minds.

Imagine a place where learning goes beyond textbooks, where values, character, and life skills are woven into each day. Our Gurukula is dedicated to nurturing not only academic growth but also personal development, helping young boys grow into confident, compassionate, and spiritually enriched individuals.

At Bhaktivedanta Gurukula, our mission is simple: to offer an education that combines the best of ancient wisdom with the needs of today’s world. Here, your son won’t just learn math and science; he’ll explore philosophy, respect, responsibility, and the art of self-discipline in a caring, supportive community. Our unique approach integrates academic rigor with a holistic outlook on education, making learning meaningful and practical.

We understand that sending your child to a residential Gurukula is a big decision, and we’re here to support you every step of the way. We’re committed to ensuring a loving, safe, and structured and yet spontaneous environment where your son can thrive in every way. Whether he’s passionate about the arts or sciences, interested in leadership, or wants to explore his own spirituality, our team of dedicated educators will guide him in discovering his strengths and honing his talents.

We’d love for you to come and visit us, tour our campus, and get a feel for the community here. Your son can stay without being accompanied by you for 3 days and see for himself if he likes the experience. Kindly prepare him mentally for this 3 day camp. Please let us know your dates for the visit and 3-day camping or if you have any questions.

dear friends, namaste! i recently read half of the book Career Dharma, by Urmila Edith Best and Ruchira S Datta.

They present a holistic approach to discovering one's purpose and aligning with a fulfilling career that contributes to personal and societal well-being. Grounded in Vedic wisdom and spiritual understanding, Career Dharma encourages individuals to explore their unique aptitudes, inclinations, and values in the context of their life’s work.

For me personally applying these principles in a residential school setting for children aged 8 to 17 offers a transformative opportunity to integrate vocational exploration with personal growth, moral development, and academic education.

i want to thank the authors for such meticulous, authentic, relevant and appealing research and writing of this book. I request you to go through it yourself and recommend it to all parents and educators in your contact.

i am attaching some of my handwritten notes from the book for your information.

श्रीनारद उवाच
ब्रह्मचारी गुरुकुले वसन्दान्तो गुरोर्हितम् ।
आचरन्दासवन्नीचो गुरौ सुद‍ृढसौहृद: ॥ १ ॥
śrī-nārada uvāca
brahmacārī gurukule
vasan dānto guror hitam
ācaran dāsavan nīco
gurau sudṛḍha-sauhṛdaḥ

Nārada Muni said: A student should practice completely controlling his senses. He should be submissive and should have an attitude of firm friendship for the spiritual master. With a great vow, the brahmacārī should live at the gurukula, only for the benefit of the guru.

Fifteen Principles of the Gurukula System by HG Bhurijana Dãsa

1. Šrila Prabhupãda established the gurukula system as the basic educational system of his society.

2. Gurukula teachers should be serious about studying Srlla Prabhupãda’s books and developing brãhminical qualities.

3. Each student must have a deep, affectionate relationship with at least one teacher.

4. All adults that intimately associate with gurukula students must be serious, mature devotees.

5. Gurukula children should engage in the basic processes of Krsna conscious sãdhana along with the adults.

6. The general atmosphere within the school should be loving. Following the regular activities should, however, be forced if necessary. Affection should not be an excuse for leniency.

7. Through training, students can develop the strong character necessary to make great advancement in spiritual life.

8. Gurukula students should learn to study Šrila Prabhupãda’s books.

9. The children should both hear the philosophy of Krsna consciousness and engage in practical devotional service.

10. “Without preaching, the whole institution becomes rubbish.” The children should go out into the world and preach.

11. During their gurukula years, most students study academics as their basic service to Krsna. Although different students have different academic abilities, each should have a successful learning experience in progressing to his capacity.

12. The children should always be engaged in diverse Krsna conscious activities.

13. Gurukula children should be encouraged to set good examples.

14. Male students should learn the value of keeping celibate in thought, word, and deed, and female students should learn the value of chastity.

15. As they mature, students should be trained in a vocation that suits their natures and allows them to serve in Lord Caitanya’s sañkirtana movement.
