🎬 Celebrating the Legacy of Odia Cinema

On this day, 28th April 1936, the first Odia film “Sita Bibaha” was released — a historic milestone that laid the foundation of Odia cinema. The film was created by the visionary Mohan Sundar Dev Goswami, whose contribution continues to inspire generations.

To honor his legacy and celebrate the rich heritage of Odia cinema, BPFTIO commemorated this special occasion in the esteemed presence of:

We were honoured to have eminent cine artist Dr. Tripura Mishra grace the “Rewind and Reframe” session at BPFTIO. Her classic film Subarna Sita was screened, taking students on a cinematic journey nearly 40 years back in time.

The film left everyone spellbound—its cinematography, sound design, and especially its soulful songs and music deeply touched the hearts of the audience. It was truly inspiring to witness how timeless storytelling continues to connect with today’s generation.

The session was beautifully conducted by Prof. Himansu Khatua, making it an engaging and insightful experience. Faculty members and students of BPFTIO actively participated, creating a vibrant and enriching atmosphere.
