It is once in a lifetime opportunity for a country that a new Parliament gets built. For the largest democracy in the world, We need to create a monument that would be a talking point around the globe for centuries to come and portray India as a modern and powerful rising star and be remembered for posterity.
Our proposal of the new parliament building in form of a star is derived from our national flower – Lotus. We have placed the most important building: The Parliament on the most important axis of the nation: The Rajpath. With this placement we are able to create new Vistas on not just Rajpath but also all other roads converging into the Canopy near India Gate. The Star structure reflects a futuristic design rooted in our traditions. On the other end of the axis towards Rashtrapathi Bhawan, the Jaipur Stambh has a star emerging from a lotus on its top.
We proposed all secretariat buildings along the Rajpath aligned with North and South Blocks over a continuous water body and connected them with an underground shuttle. By doing this we were neither uprooting exiting trees, nor causing any hindrance to the already functioning offices. Any other placement of secretariats would have required relocation, demolition, and reconstruction. This would have also exceeded the set time and set budget for the face lift of the central axis and the desired goals would not have been met.
All of the above was done to ensure vision through this development for a new India- an emerging star comes true by 2022 – 75th anniversary of Independence.
