Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, an eminent philosopher, and India's second President. Dr. Radhakrishnan believed that “Teachers should be the best minds in the country”. In 1962, when he became President, his students and friends suggested celebrating his birthday as a day to honour all teachers. This proposal led to the establishment of Teacher's Day in India and, over time, its adoption in various countries worldwide.
Teachers play a pivotal role in shaping minds and instilling values that extend far beyond textbooks. They are the guiding lights that illuminate the path to knowledge and wisdom. On this special day, students and communities can show their appreciation through various means, from heartfelt cards and messages to organizing events and initiatives that honour their teachers. Simple gestures of thanks can go a long way in acknowledging the tireless efforts of educators.

Teacher's Day serves as a reminder that teaching is not merely a profession but a noble calling. As we celebrate this day, let us remember and honour the remarkable individuals who have dedicated their lives to enlightening and enriching ours. In doing so, we ensure that the torch of knowledge continues to burn brightly, lighting the way for future generations.

World Book Day is all about celebrating the wonderful power of books and the joy of reading. Books can be best portrayed as one of the best reservoirs of history, where information is obtained and data is transferred from one generation to another. To contain and mitigate the spread of the virus in Odisha effectively, Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Patnaik has extended the period till April,2020 .
