The Department of Geography, Coochbehar College, successfully organized a Special Lecture Session on "Jaldapara National Park: Challenges and Achievements – Bridging Field Innovation, Environmental Policy & Wildlife Management" September 8, 2026, at the Seminar Hall.
​We were deeply privileged to host Mr. Parveen Kaswan, I.F.S., Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Jaldapara Wildlife Division, as our distinguished guest speaker.
​Mr. Kaswan delivered an engaging and eye-opening address, shedding light on:
​Field Innovation: How modern spatial mapping and real-time monitoring tools are transforming anti-poaching operations.
​Frontline Protection: The gritty realities, high-stakes decisions, and dedication involved in ground-level wildlife rescue missions.
​Policy & Public Engagement: The vital role of youth, researchers, and local communities in sustaining ecological balance.
​The interactive Q&A session witnessed vibrant participation from students, faculty, and research scholars across disciplines. A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Parveen Kaswan for taking the time to inspire our students, and to everyone who attended and contributed to making this event a grand success!

🎬 FIPRESCI-INDIA FILM FESTIVAL 2026: CINEMAS OF INDIA 🎬

We are delighted to announce that Cooch Behar College will be hosting the screening of a selection of contemporary Indian films as a part of the FIPRESCI-India Film Festival 2026: “Cinemas of India.”

📅 Date: 10th–12th September 2026
📍 Venue: Seminar Hall, Cooch Behar College

The festival is presented by Cooch Behar Film Society, in association with the Federation of Film Societies of Eastern Region, and in collaboration with the Department of English, Cooch Behar College.

A Successful Special Lecture at Cooch Behar College

The Departments of Political Science, History, Sanskrit and Chemistry, Cooch Behar College, jointly organised a special lecture on “Shyama Prasad Mukhopadhyay: Political Thought and Politics” on 5 September 2026 at the Seminar Room of the College.

Dr. Bimal Shankar Nanda, Associate Professor, Charuchandra College, Kolkata, was the distinguished speaker. He delivered an insightful lecture and interacted extensively with the students and teachers.

The programme was graced by the presence of the Honourable Principal, Dr. Pankaj Kumar Debnath, who warmly welcomed Dr. Nanda and expressed his eagerness to listen to his scholarly deliberations. Prof. Dilip Debnath, Professor of Chemistry, Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University, and Prof. Debashis Kumar Mandal, Teachers' Council Secretary, were also present.

More than 100 students attended the programme. Teachers and students of all four departments participated enthusiastically, making the programme highly interactive and successful.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Rabindra Dey, Head of the Department of Chemistry and one of the organisers. The programme was anchored by Dr. Sukanta Ghosh, one of the organisers, whose engaging style of presentation contributed to the smooth conduct of the programme.

A memorable occasion of academic interaction and intellectual exchange.
