In 1979, Helen O’Grady, a highly trained teacher and theatre personality, hired a hall in a Perth suburb and commenced after-school drama classes for children. Her aim was to provide a self-development programme for children through drama. Drama as a medium allows for shedding of inhibitions, greater opportunity for expression, team work and collaboration along with enhancement of communication skills. It brings in the room for children to be creative, imaginative, co-operative, problem-solve and think out of the box. Children are often noticed to be able to understand the overall context and situations that are presented and adapt themselves suitably. The program is now successfully running across 1500 centers in over 25 countries.
