Amutha Dhandapani established her dance school “Bharathalayam” a leading institution in Coimbatore, for imparting art of Bharathanatyam in the year 1986, which has its branch in Saibaba Colony since the year 2005. Bharathalayam also conducts online classes for its disciples abroad through Skype. Emphasizing the importance and inseparable role that Nattuvangamplays in Bharathanatyam, students are t

rained in Nattuvangam also. On completion of the training,
they are given chances to perform along with the guru and are encouraged to perform their “Nattuvangam Arangetram” also. In an effort to make the students be independent and knowledgeable in the art form, the students are given opportunity to choreographer. This helps the student gain confidence, understand group dynamics and stage aesthetics. Propagation of this art is one of the main objectives of the school. To attain this and to create an awareness and interest amoung the youth, the school conducts regular programmes. The District Level Bharathanatyam Dance Competition, on the eve of institutions 20th Anniversary is one such, which was well received and widely appreciated. This school celebrated its Silver Jubilee in a very grand manner on 18th Feb 2012.
