Isha Vidhya, a non profit initiative, was founded as a means for transforming the lives of rural chil

Isha Vidhya was founded as a means for transforming the lives of rural children by providing affordable, high-quality education where it is otherwise unavailable. Isha Vidhya schools are designed to build confident, English-speaking and computer-adept youth, opening the door for them to participate in and benefit from India’s economic growth. Currently, there are 9 schools in operation with a total of over 7000 students. Many students are first-generation school-goers from their families. The project functions on a grass-roots level, relying on community involvement and the support of volunteers and donors.

Child Safety and Protection Awareness Program

In an interactive, activity-based session led by the police and other partners, Isha Vidhya Nagercoil students learned about personal safety, child protection, and the importance of speaking up against abuse. They learned to identify safe and unsafe situations, seek help when needed, and take responsibility for their own safety and that of others.

The presence of police personnel and social workers brought practical, real-life guidance to the program.

Students learn to connect circuits and program commands so that the Mecanum wheels move in any direction without changing orientation. They see coding and hardware work in tandem through wireless commands. Such Atal Tinkering Lab activities inspire them to compete at national-level events.

Tamil Valvan was selected through a campus interview that he prepared for with self-assurance. He wants to clear the Group 4 exam, land a secure government job, and inspire young students in his village, most of whom are high school dropouts, to follow in his footsteps.

In a well-orchestrated craft activity, Class 5 students of Isha Vidhya Erode punctiliously crafted flowers with colorful paper and then artistically mounted them to create vibrant showpieces.

Playing to Learn

During a dedicated weekly indoor games period, students from Classes 1–8 at Isha Vidhya Dharmapuri form pairs and eagerly participate in board and card games such as Othello, Abalone, Go Fish, Dobble, Guess Who?, and more. This fun activity helps develop their logical reasoning, critical thinking, concentration, observation, and decision-making skills while encouraging teamwork and healthy competition.

Magical Science

Class 5 students at Isha Vidhya Cuddalore placed a pencil in a transparent bottle filled with water and observed that it appeared bent. This simple activity, which demonstrated the refraction of light, intrigued them and sparked their curiosity to explore the reasons behind such unexpected phenomena in science.

Naval Base

In an online "Get Mentored" session, Mr. Radha Krishnan, a retired Indian Navy officer, informed the students about the Indian Navy, the different opportunities to enlist, and the importance of discipline, dedication, teamwork, and service to the nation. His genial interaction with the students encouraged them to think beyond academics and develop a sense of responsibility towards society and the country.

After the session, to ensure optimum understanding, the students discussed what they had learned, with valuable inputs from their teachers and peers.

After gathering useful information about the Armed Forces, Gaganmithra, a Class 12 student at Isha Vidhya Coimbatore who aspired to pursue Mathematics and teach at IIT, now says he will also join the NDA.

Kindling Stories

On the occasion of National Library Day, Isha Vidhya Coimbatore’s Tamil Department released a Tamil book, Verilirundhu Vaanam Varai. This special collection features short stories and poems written by students from Classes 6–12, with guidance from their Tamil Department teachers.

Students submitted their stories in February this year, giving the teachers time to proofread, design, and print the book ahead of its release.
