As the festival of Onam approaches, our Early Years facilitators thoughtfully curate rich, sensory experiences that invite children to explore tradition, culture and celebration through imaginative play. Rooted in the principles of the Reggio Emilia approach, these provocations honour the environment as the third teacher, creating meaningful opportunities for children to investigate, create, collaborate and express their thinking.

Children engage in the joyful process of creating a sensory-rich Onam Sadhya using natural and open-ended materials, encouraging imaginative role play, fine-motor development, hand–eye coordination and multisensory exploration. Through the creation of vibrant Pookalams with coloured materials, flowers and leaves, children explore pattern, texture, colour, symmetry and design while developing an appreciation for the beauty of cultural traditions.

The exploration continues through expressive arts as children paint Onam boats and discover the forms and textures of coconut tree parts, interpreting these familiar cultural symbols in vibrant, colourful tones. These experiences support children in developing creativity, agency and confidence as they make choices, test ideas and communicate meaning through their own unique representations.

Aligned with the Cambridge Early Years approach, the experiences provide a holistic learning environment in which children are encouraged to explore, enquire, imagine, create and reflect. Through carefully considered materials and an enabling environment, culture becomes something children can touch, transform and make sense of.

In this way, the festival is not simply introduced to children—it is lived, explored and reimagined through their hundred languages of learning

PLACE BASED LEARNING - COSMIC CHRONICLES | From Curiosity to Inquiry-

What if Earth could narrate its own epic adventure-from a chaotic cloud of cosmic dust to a living, breathing planet?

Our Grade 6 learners took this driving question beyond the classroom through a project-based, experiential learning journey at the PSG GRD Museum of Science & Technology.

Exploring Earth, space, forces and energy, they observed models, interpreted evidence, questioned phenomena and connected scientific concepts to the real world.

Because meaningful science learning begins when learners move from“What do I see?” to “Why does it happen?”

This is RAKS way of teaching and learning - Place based , hands on, connected, learning beyond classrooms and learner-driven.

Their story. Their perspective. Through their lens.

What does Independence mean when you are still discovering the world?

For our Kindergarten children, it became a space to imagine, create and express. They listened to stories they created, explored art as a language, and experienced the wonder of making choices and seeing those choices take shape.

From little hands creating with purpose to young minds finding their own ways to respond, Independence Day became more than a celebration. It became an opportunity to see freedom through the lens of a child — as choice, expression, curiosity and action.

Because sometimes, the most meaningful expressions of freedom begin with a child wondering, “What can I do?”

RAKS Speaker Series | People of RAKS | RAKS Nexus 2026

Real people. Real questions. Real-world learning.

At RAKS, learning does not stop at the classroom door.

Through the RAKS Speaker Series- People of RAKS, our learners meet practitioners, entrepreneurs, psychologists, industry leaders and changemakers-people who bring the world of work, ideas and possibilities into our learning spaces.

RAKS NEXUS brought this to life. Across Accounting, Business, Economics and Psychology, learners moved from concepts to conversations, asking questions, challenging perspectives and seeing how classroom learning takes shape in the real world.

Because at RAKS, learning is not just about knowledge. It is about connecting, questioning and applying.

This is the RAKS way of learning.

The RAKS Community Footprint | HMUN India 2026-Bengaluru Chapter

17 RAKSTERs. 5 committees. One shared purpose-to learn, grow and thrive.

From the UNHRC to the Security Council, our learners stepped into unfamiliar formats, scriptless presentations and complex perspectives- learning to think on their feet, speak with confidence and engage beyond their own point of view.

-Diplomatic Commendation- Ohm Kharan & Tanmay V Shah

-Outstanding Delegate-Tarun Jeevan

-Honourable Mention-Micah Sandeep

The awards are moments. The growth is the story.

At RAKS, we create purposeful platforms that help learners step beyond the familiar, find their voice and build the courage to lead.

Thrive With Purpose- in a world they’re stepping out to create boldly.

Independence Day @ RAKS | RAKS Rituals-Freedom with Purpose

Independence is more than a date in history. It is a responsibility we carry forward.

At RAKS, this Independence Day was a moment to remember the courage that gave us freedom, honour the values that hold a nation together, and reflect on what it means to use that freedom with purpose.

Through our commemorations, voices, music and shared moments, our learners celebrated India not merely as a nation we belong to, but as a future we are responsible for shaping.

Because freedom finds its truest meaning in what we choose to do with it in our everyday choices.

Happy Independence Day.
