We extend our heartfelt gratitude and deep appreciation to Mr. Puneet Krishnan for conducting an insightful and thought-provoking CEO Talk Series session for the students of Firebird Institute of Research in Management on the theme “Geopolitical Reframing of Global Business”, with a special focus on “Geopolitics and Commerce.”
The session provided students with a comprehensive understanding of how geopolitical developments are increasingly shaping global trade, commerce, manufacturing, supply chains and business strategies. Mr. Krishnan brought valuable perspectives on the evolving US–China rivalry and competition, highlighting how changing global power dynamics are influencing international business and economic relationships.
A significant focus of the session was on India’s emergence as a global manufacturing hub and the opportunities available for Indian businesses and managers in the evolving global landscape. He explained how diversification of supply chains across continents, regions and countries is creating new opportunities for India to strengthen its position in global trade and manufacturing.
The session also offered valuable insights into the future leadership opportunities for Indian managers, emphasising the importance of understanding geopolitical developments and adopting a strategic perspective to enable India to benefit from changing patterns in global trade, commerce and industry.
Mr. Krishnan further highlighted the importance of navigating geopolitical disturbances and turbulence with strategic foresight. He discussed how effective governance, international cooperation and stronger global institutions can contribute to creating a more stable environment for businesses to operate and grow. The discussion touched upon areas such as the World Trade Organization, global border security systems, political alignments and international cooperation, all of which play an important role in enabling smoother navigation of global commerce.
The session also addressed contemporary geopolitical developments, including the recent events in the Middle East, continuing tensions between advanced and developing economies, and the evolving strategic relationships among the United States, Russia, China and emerging economies. These perspectives helped students appreciate the complex relationship between geopolitics, economic interests and business decision-making.
Mr. Krishnan’s detailed insights encouraged students to look beyond conventional business perspectives and understand the wider geopolitical forces that influence markets, industries and global opportunities. His session was not only informative but also inspiring, enabling future managers to think strategically, anticipate global shifts and prepare themselves to lead Indian businesses in an increasingly interconnected and dynamic world.
