SSB assessment is Three-pronged approaches.
Karmana- Demonstrated Performance
Vacha---- In simple term Expression Verbal
Mansa-- How your mind thinks
Why any dish tastes good?
It should have the right ingredient right mix and the right preparation.
In this world, there are three types of persons.
1. Performer
2. Follower
3. Observer
I do not have to tell you what type of person you should be to qualify the so-called services selection, board.
First of all, one should know about one’s own strength. ( Both physical and mental)
Let us take some simple thing like reading a novel
If the novel has 2000 pages, many like me will avoid touching it
I do not have the patience to go through 2000 pages to read a story, which may or may not be interesting to me.
(Deduction, I do not have the patience to read a big novel)
But that does not mean I do not have a desire to know what it is all about.
SO what do I do?
I may go through an abridged version of the same book.
Or I might like to ask a person who has read the full book to let me know the theme in a nutshell.
Here the reader may be able to tell you something about the story.
The person who read and summarized the whole book might have brought about the important aspects
Depending upon the circumstances you may go in for
An abridged version or just hear it from someone who has read the book
A person who has neither read the book nor had heard it from others will not be able to talk about the content of the book.
Do what best suits you.
( I for one will go in for an abridged version and save on time and money, yet learn what the author wants to tell the reader)
Reading the book is like reading the book written by the author first-hand info
Seeing a movie about the book and second-best
Just listening to your friend narrating is of the low order.
So First aspect is
KNOW YOURSELF
Know your strength and weakness
Put in the best effort to correct that is required to be corrected.
( For this you have to condition your mind and body)
What do you do about something that cannot be corrected?
Avoid exposing this to others
By putting others' interests before your own is the best policy.
Here once again I would like to reiterate that you should know what you can do and what you cannot ( use your common sense)
There is one question in SRT
(Situation Reaction Test)
You and your friend both were walking near the river bank. Suddenly your friend slipped and fell into the river.
Both of you do not know swimming.
The current is moderate and the river is deep, there is no one around
What will you do?
Before you answer this question look at the various aspects
a) You do not know swimming
b) The river is deep
c) Moderate current
d) No one is seen around.
e) Your friend also does not know swimming
Your answer should consider all the above facts and come out with a reasonable answer.

What does it mean to fight fate?
Read the struggle of one our cadet who was trained by Defence Academy Coimbatore

He is now an officer posted in AEC.
He was an ethical hacker. (Then)
Though he made it in SSB in the First attempt, the fate eluded his success by not making him get into merit list
A fighter as he was cleared his second SSB and this timed topped the merit list and made it to IMA.

Lt. Raj, your struggle has been posted in our SSBCOACHING.COM web site so that others can get motivated and succeed in spite if any set back that they might face.

Doctors ruled out IMA cadet (GC) Rajshekhar’s possibilities of survival as the 27-year-old suffered multiple organ failure after fainting during a customary drill session in the academy. But, Rajshekhar defied the death and got his first posting attached with the 12 Assam Rifles, which is the world’s highest battlefield in Siachen. Rajshekhar was commissioned from the Indian Military Academy (IMA) as Lieutenant in the Indian Army in Dehradun on Saturday.

Rajshekhar recalled his toughest experience when he suddenly collapsed due to dehydration routine drill sessions wherein cadets were required to run long distances with heavy loads on their back. “I suddenly collapsed due to dehydration during the pahla Kadam exercise in which cadets were required to run a distance of 10km with heavy loads on their back,” Lieutenant Rajshekhar, who hails from Tamil Nadu told Hindustan Times.

Due to this, he was admitted to the hospital and was kept in ICU for 18 days and at the high dependency unit (HDU) for 22 days. He had to take rest for 40 days for a complete recovery. Doctors who analyzed Rajshekar’s condition said that his kidney and liver had suffered 70% damage.

“I was admitted at the hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU) for 18 days and at the high dependency unit (HDU) for 22 days. The doctors clearly told my trainers that I won’t survive,” Rajshekhar said.

It is learned that two other cadets lost their lives last year while doing the exercise. When Rajshekhar started recovering, doctors urged him to quit the course citing his medical conditions. Even his mother and brother advised him to stay away from training.

“I was not prepared to give up. After being discharged from the hospital, I started working out in the gym for four hours daily and it paid. I not only survived but became fit enough to complete the course in time. My company commander and platoon commander gave me invaluable support while I was in the hospital,” he added.

At the passing out parade, he received the best motivator award for his Never-Give-up attitude. He comes from Maidanbatti, a small village in Madurai district of Tamil Nadu. He lost his father when he was studying Class 10. Rajshekar’s mother, Santhi did tailoring jobs to support the family.

Both Rajshekhar and his brother were in school at that time. “It was not an easy journey to this day. It was full of hardships and struggle, but I never gave up as I was determined to achieve my dream of serving my country,” the army officer said.
“It’s nothing compared to the medical conditions I fought and survived,” the army officer said as he’s gearing up to take up the new challenge.

NDA- Entrance - Tips to prepare
Before you even think of applying for NDA, please do go through the details about the syllabus(Know your Enemy).
Many boys appear for the examination without preparing to face the exam
I am from Sainik School, and let me tell you how I, prepared for the entrance examination
Motivation and clearcut aim is important for success
To start with the school started motivating us right from class VI, we were given lectures by many senior officers of all the three armed forces about life in NDA and how it shaped them
I would suggest those from other schools, to request your school principal to arrange for such Motivational Visits

At least visit one of the following officers training academy to learn about the training and see for yourself the facilities offered

During class VIII we were taken to witness the IAF(Dundigal, Hyderabad) Officers' passing out parade
During Class IX we were taken to OTA (Chennai)to witness the Passing out Parade of army officers
During Class X we were taken to Indian Naval Academy (Ezhilmala, Kerala)to witness the Passing out parade
During Class XI we were taken to National Defence Academy( Khadakvasla, Pune) to witness the Passing out parade and interact with our school seniors who were undergoing training at NDA
Note: The NDA authorities permit civilians to visit on any sunday with prior permission . So do not miss this Opportunity

These visits made most of us to take the NDA exam seriously, we were told about 6 to 7 lakh candidates appear each year to face this exam, in which only about 400 make it for training at NDA
So, we learned about its difficulty and started preparing for the same from class X just after the 10th standard examination
I am an average student, so I started my preparation from class X onwards.

HOW I WENT ABOUT?

1. Collected all the original question papers from my seniors. (nowadays you can just download it from the net)
2. Started with English and Maths on a regular basis. Other subjects were revised only on Friday and Saturday.
3. I bought a Pearson Guide for NDA, Last 10 years maths solved papers and subscribed to Success Review GK Magazine
4. For maths, I took in one week (3 days of 3 hours each session was given only to prepare a chapter.
5. For English, I allotted every Wednesday. Solving old papers.
6. For all other subjects except current affairs, I relied entirely on the previous 10 years solved papers
7. Just two months prior to the actual exam, I started my preparation via internet solving timed online test
8. Every third day, along with my class students, we requested our teacher to set question papers, this we did religiously so that we could gain speed and accuracy
9. The teachers were of help, they used to discuss the problem and solve the difficult ones in the class.
10. I must have solved about 30 odd full sets of papers before I sat for the entrance exam.

Note: Since you have to get at least 40% in each subject that is covered in NDA exam, one should not neglect any subject
I succeeded in my first attempt and went on to qualify SSB, I took some coaching in school as well as Defence Academy Coimbatore
To-day I am an officer in the executive branch of the Indian Navy, and aiming to compete for MARCOS Training
Motivate yourself, write you aim clearly in Black and white and paste it in front of your study table, this will keep beckoning you to out in your best
This is Lt. S.H - Wishing you all the best
