Dr. Mahalingam Govindaraj of HarvestPlus to Receive the 2022 Norman Borlaug Award for Field Research and Application

World Food Prize Foundation Senior Director Keegan Kautzky made the announcement during the National Symposium on Food, Nutrition and Environmental Security on August 30 in New Delhi, India.

Govindaraj is being recognized for his outstanding leadership in mainstreaming biofortified crops, particularly pearl millet, in India and Africa. For more than a decade, he has directed the development and dissemination of high-yielding, high-iron and high-zinc pearl millet varieties that have contributed to better nutrition for thousands of farmers and their communities.

“Pandemics remind us that food and nutrition security must go hand in hand,” Govindaraj said. “Effectively addressing malnutrition requires that staple crops, such as millet, be bred for essential nutrition, in addition to yield.”

He will initiate the election process and conduct the TNAU Alumni Association General Election – 2022.
All are requested to cooperate and support the election process so as to accomplish the election process democratically and successfully.
The letter from the Chief Election Officer of TNAUAA General Election-2022 and the nomination form and the list of eligible voters are attached.
The contestants are requested to furnish the following along with the nomination form.
a. Soft copy of the passport size photograph (not more than 1 MB) &
b. Self description / brief introduction in two lines

தமிழ்நாடு வேளாண்மைப் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் 43-வது பட்டமளிப்பு விழாவில் பட்டம் பெற மாணவர்கள் விண்ணப்பிக்கலாம் என்று அறிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இதுகுறித்து வேளாண் பல்கலைக்கழகம் வெளியிட்டுள்ள செய்திக்குறிப்பில் கூறியிருப்பது:

தமிழ்நாடு வேளாண்மைப் பல்கலைக்கழகம் 43-வது வருடாந்திரப் பட்டமளிப்பு விழாவிற்கு கடந்த மார்ச் மாதம் 31ம் தேதி வரையிலான தேர்வு முடிவுகள் அறிவிக்கப்பட்ட மாணவ மாணவியர்களிடமிருந்து பட்டங்கள் பெறுவதற்கான விண்ணப்பங்களை வரவேற்கிறது.

விண்ணப்பப் படிவம் மற்றும் இதர விவரங்களை இப்பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் இணையதளமான www.tnau.ac.in மூலம் வரும் ஏப்ரல் 25 ஆம் தேதி முதல் பதிவிறக்கம் செய்து விண்ணப்பிக்கலாம்.

விண்ணப்பங்களை www.tnau.ac.in இணையதளத்தில் உள்ள இணைப்பு (link) மூலம் ஆன்லைனிலும் சமர்ப்பிக்கலாம். விண்ணப்பக்கட்டணத்தை SBI collect (The Comptroller, TNAU, Coimbatore) மூலம் கணக்கில் செலுத்த வேண்டும்.

இப்பட்டமளிப்பு விழாவிற்கு பூர்த்தி செய்யப்பட்ட விண்ணப்பங்கள் உரிய இணைப்புகளுடன் (அதாவது தற்காலிக பட்டப்படிப்பு சான்றிதழின் (PC) நகல், இறுதி பருவ மதிப்பெண் சான்றிதழின் நகல் (ஒன்று மட்டும்), இணையதளம் மூலமாக வங்கியில் செலுத்தப்பட்ட கட்டணத்திற்கான ரசீது மற்றும் சமீபத்தில் எடுத்த புகைப்படம் (2nos) ஆகியவற்றை ஜூன் 18 ஆம் தேதி மாலை 5 மணிக்குள் அனுப்ப வேண்டும்.

Technology Business Incubator functioning under Directorate of Agribusiness Development, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University is one of the RKVY, RAFTAAR, R ABI Centre identified by the GoI-Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, RKVY Division, New Delhi from 2019. ABIS-TBI R ABI Centre has successfully completed Cohort I, II & III for the AOP & SAIP programmes during the F.Y.2019-20, 2020-21 & 2021-22. Under the Cohort I - 6 startups, Cohort II - 5 startups were funded under AOP & Cohort III - 13 startups were recommended for funding under AOP and it is to be released shortly.
About Agripreneurship Orientation Program (AOP):
Is aimed to provide hand holding support and a two months training program to Graduates/ Entrepreneurs with innovative ideas in agribusiness.
Program Eligibility:
1. Young graduates with innovative ideas
2. Willing to take up two months training program
3. Willing to take up entrepreneurial journey
4. Willing to enroll as a member in ABIS-TBI, TNAU, Coimbatore
Support offered:
1. Two months in house training program
2. Networking support
3. Assistance in company incorporation
4. Upto 5.00 Lakhs grant in aid from the Ministry for the selected startups
