The Anti-Ragging Committee of Tamilnadu College of Engineering, Karumathampatti, Coimbatore, organised an Anti-Ragging Committee Inauguration and Pledge Ceremony at the college campus, with the participation of around 400 students and 30 faculty and staff members.
Dr. P. Dharmalingam, Anti-Ragging Coordinator, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of maintaining a safe, respectful and friendly campus environment. He emphasised the collective responsibility of students and staff in preventing ragging and promoting a culture of mutual respect.
Addressing the students, Dr. N. S. Sakthivel Murugan, Principal explained the serious consequences of ragging and the disciplinary and legal punishments associated with the practice. The students were sensitised to the physical, psychological and academic impact that ragging can have on fellow students. The Principal urged everyone to contribute towards creating a ragging-free campus and to immediately report any incident or concern to the appropriate authorities.
As part of the Anti-Ragging awareness campaign, the college announced a series of student-oriented activities, including slogan writing, essay writing, short-film making, poster designing and other awareness programmes. The Principal encouraged students to actively participate in these events and use their creativity to spread awareness about the harmful effects of ragging.
The highlight of the programme was the Anti-Ragging Pledge, which was taken collectively by the students and staff. Through the pledge, the participants affirmed their commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive and ragging-free educational environment.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. M. Seethapathi, Vice- Principal, who expressed gratitude to the management, Principal, faculty members, staff and students for their active participation and support in making the event meaningful and successful.
The ceremony served as an important initiative in strengthening the college’s commitment to zero tolerance towards ragging and fostering a positive and harmonious campus community.
