NIT Nagaland, in collaboration with HCLTech, successfully hosted a hackathon-based recruitment drive on 18/04/2026 & 19/04/2026, bringing together students from the neighbouring NITs and IIITs.
The event provided a platform for students to showcase their problem-solving skills while engaging in a vibrant and dynamic campus experience.
Alongside the hackathon, the evening featured a live musical performance, AI Sketchbot experience, and student-led performances on 17/04/2026, adding to the overall engagement.
The event concluded with dinner and distribution of mementos, making it a memorable experience for all participants.
We thank HCLTech for this collaborative initiative and look forward to more such engagements.

NIT Nagaland successfully hosted an inspiring expert talk today by Shri. Kumar Rakesh, Editorial Chairman of Global Governance News Group and Samagra Bharat Media Group, as part of the Viksit Bharat@2047 Lecture Series. The session on "Role of Youth, Education & Media for Viksit Bharat 2047" provided our academic community with a global perspective on India’s growth. Shri. Rakesh highlighted how the synergy between youth energy and responsible media is essential for a developed nation. A key highlight was the address by our Honorable Director, Prof. (Dr). A. Elayaperumal. The Director shared a compelling vision for our students, emphasizing the need to bridge the gap between technical education and social awareness. He encouraged students to connect with media and journalism, urging them to use these platforms to communicate scientific progress and engage with the national narrative. It was heartening to see our faculty, research scholars, and students from B.Tech, M.Tech, and M.Sc. programs engaging in such thought provoking discussions.
A huge thank you to Shri. Kumar Rakesh for his invaluable time and to Director Prof. Elayaperumal for his visionary leadership.

NIT Nagaland is delighted to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cotton University, Assam, on 11th march 2026 in presence of Director NIT Nagaland, Prof. (Dr.) A. Elayaperumal, Vice Chancellor of Cotton University, Prof. Ramesh Chandra Deka and senior officials of NIT Nagaland, during a brief meeting organized at NIT Nagaland. Both the signing partners agreed to foster effective collaboration in the areas of teaching and research and also on mutual sharing of the available research facilities at free of cost. Possibility of introducing joint academic courses complying with the NEP 2020 guidelines, was also discussed during the meeting. Overall, the partnership marks a significant milestone in NIT Nagaland’s commitment towards the goal of academic excellence and innovative growth. This MoU will accelerate technological advancement in the region and will create new learning opportunities.

A team from NIT Nagaland led by Prof.(Dr.) A.Elayaperumal met the Honourable Minister of Tourism & Higher Education, Shri.Temjen Imna Along in Kohima to discuss the growth of NIT Nagaland and Invite him for the Two Days Symposium on “Implementation of NEP 2020”:Challenges & Opportunities in NE Region organized by NIT Nagaland on 28th -29th February 2026.

In the context of the forthcoming India AI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled to be held in India in February 2026, the National Institute of Technology Nagaland is organizing a Pre-AI Summit titled “Responsible Artificial Intelligence: Awareness, Ethics, and Societal Impact” as part of its academic and societal outreach initiatives. The objective of this summit is to create awareness among students and educators regarding the ethical considerations, societal implications, and future challenges associated with Artificial Intelligence, through expert lectures and interactive sessions. The details of the event are as follows:

DAY 7: Tuesday, 23th December, 2025
The Seventh Day: It began early with a scenic journey from Dimapur to Kohima. Students from NIT Nagaland and Jammu University traveled together, encouraging interaction and cultural exchange. The first stop was Kisama Heritage Village, nestled at the foothills of the Japfü range, where participants explored traditional morungs representing various Naga tribes and learned about their culture, architecture, and community life. The students also saw a T-55 military tank and Indian Air Force jet models.
The visit also included viewpoints offering breathtaking views of Kohima and a wholesome lunch served at the village. Later, the group visited the Kohima World War II Cemetery, a solemn and reflective experience that left a lasting impression on everyone.
The day concluded with visits to Mao Market and Eco Park, followed by the return journey to the institute, marking the end of a memorable and enriching day.

DAY 6: Monday, 22nd December, 2025
The Sixth Day: It began with bamboo stilts activity in the morning, followed by academic sessions at NIT Nagaland focusing on the social, cultural, and environmental aspects of Sikkim. Sessions titled “Sikkim – Small State, Big Impact,” “Cultural Kaleidoscope of Sikkim,” and “Sikkim – Clean Meals, Bold Trails” highlighted the state’s development model, cultural diversity, and sustainable practices. Our Honourable Director interacted with the visiting students from the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and discussed the progress and development of Northeast India, with special emphasis on Nagaland. Sir elaborated on the opportunities, resources, and strategic advantages of the Northeast region. The students actively participated in the interaction, raising several questions, all of which were addressed by the Honourable Director with clear explanations and proper justification.
After lunch, participants engaged in sports and recreational activities, including cricket, basketball, and badminton, promoting teamwork and camaraderie.

DAY 5: Sunday, 21st December, 2025
The fifth day of the programme began with a morning fitness session at the football ground, where participants enthusiastically played the traditional game Seven Stones. The friendly match between the Jammu team and NIT Nagaland added energy to the start of the day.
The academic sessions focused on the social, cultural, and economic aspects of Mizoram. Sessions on Mizoram – People, Land and Culture, Tribal Roots and Community, and Bamboo, Tourism, and Border Trade offered valuable insights into the region’s heritage, economy, and development.
In the evening a vibrant cultural exchange programme was held at the open auditorium of NIT Nagaland. Performances by students from Jammu and Kashmir were especially captivating, promoting cultural understanding and unity.

DAY 4: Saturday, 20th December, 2025
The Fourth Day: began with a visit to Jamir Farm house, where students interacted with Dr. S. C. Jamir, former Governor of Goa, Maharashtra and former Chief Minister of Nagaland. Students from Jammu & Kashmir and NIT Nagaland engaged in a meaningful discussion on Article 371(A), special constitutional provisions, women’s roles in Naga society, the impact of Western culture, and real-life experiences from governance and parliamentary leadership. The interaction was both insightful and inspiring.
The afternoon featured academic sessions on Assam, covering Culture, Identity & Heritage, Economic Landscape, and Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Startups. These sessions highlighted Assam’s rich cultural diversity, economic potential, and emerging opportunities for youth-led innovation and sustainable development, marking the conclusion of another eventful day.
