Grade 7 students had an unforgettable rainforest adventure in Agumbe. Trekking hills for panoramic mountain views, splashing in natural streams and waterfalls, walking through the lush rainforest and camping in tents at Kalinga Centre for Rainforest Ecology (KCRE) brought them closer to nature. The students of Adyar Theosophical Academy took a deep dive into the history of Indian textiles, its art forms, textures, and sustainability, this term. They visited weavers at Kalakshetra to study how handlooms function, how fabrics are made, how dyes are prepared. They experimented weaving with natural fibres, and undertook diy projects using cloth scraps. These learnings culminated in a grand, colourful, and detailed display to celebrate India’s 77th independence day. Songs, dance performances, poetry recitations, and skits all revolving around India’s rich textile heritage, helped amplify students’ understanding of this marvellous and diverse aspect of Indian culture.
