BSW Department - Madras School of Social Work

Soft Skill Training for 2nd year BSW students on First Aid and Disaster Management from 27th January 2025 to 3rd February 2025 in collaboration with St. John's Ambulance, Chennai.

On July 4,2024, Thursday, at 10am, an orientation and observation visit was conducted at the Namma Ooru Foundation Micro composting Centre in Pudupet. The session was led by Mr.Natarajan. The observation visit allowed the BSW second year students to witness and understand the process of making manure, offering practical insights into the composting process. This fieldwork component included both educational and field experience, enhancing the students to understand sustainable waste management. The session ended at 4:00pm.

Our NSS volunteer Mr. Nikhil Bala, 2nd Year BSW has completed 3 hours of continuous silambam without a break and received a record holder medal, a cup and world record certificate on 14th July 2024. The event was held at Queen Mary's College, Chennai. The NSS unit of MSSW appreciates his dedication and achievement.

On account of International Education Day, Vidiyal Forum in collaboration with ElloWhale Education and ZUCI Systems performed a street play on the theme "Importance of Education" in a Corporation School at CIT Nagar on 23/01/2024, Tuesday. Ms. Vidhya Vinayaki, Asst. Professor and Extension Co-ordinator addressed the gathering on the importance of education and personal development of the students.

The BSW program of the Department of Social Work, Vidiyal Forum, Madras School of Social Work has adopted Dr. Santhosh Nagar Tenement, Egmore for its extension activities. The inauguration of the extension centre was held on 24/01/2024, Wednesday at 3pm. Mr. Nirmal Raj, Chief Community Development Officer, TNUHDB and Ms. Priya, Community Development Officer, TNUHDB were present for the program. Ms. Arokiya Jayasudha, Director of Marianjali Kalailoodam, Active Volunteer of Aware India and member of She Riders Biking Community was the chief guest and she addressed the community on the importance of Education especially for girl children. BSW students performed street play on the theme "Importance of Education and problems faced by girl children in the society".The program was coordinated by Prof. Vidhya, Asst. Professor and Extension Co-ordinator, BSW Program, MSSW.

On 05/01/2024, Friday Vidiyal forum organised Alumni Lecture Series - 02 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at TAG Auditorium.Ms.Sabaritha, Project Manager - Naan Mudhalvan Scheme, Career Guidance program, Education Department, Tamilnadu was the resource person. She gave an insightful lecture on the topic 'Intersection of Passion and Profession - Journey'.

Soft Skill Training on Communicative English for 2023 batch BSW was held from 16th October 2023 to 19th October 2023.

We have come to the end of this year's semester and we have successfully completed 4 Alumni lecture series.

We will be continuing with the Alumni Lecture Series from the next semester.

Those who have shown interest in giving the Lectures for the students of BSW will be invited for the next semester.
