IIT Madras hosted the 3rd BRICS Neuroscience Symposium 2026, bringing this prestigious international event to India for the very first time.
Organised by the Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Centre (SGBC), the symposium united leading neuroscientists, clinicians, researchers, and policymakers from BRICS nations and beyond to advance our understanding of the human brain.
Held under the theme “Expanding Neuroscience: BRICS & Extended Nations,” the event highlighted the importance of global collaboration in driving breakthroughs in brain science, neurotechnologies, and healthcare. Key highlights included expert talks, scientific discussions, cultural programmes, and the release of SGBC’s Human Brainstem Atlas.
By fostering international partnerships and knowledge exchange, the symposium reinforced a shared commitment to shaping the future of neuroscience and improving lives worldwide.

The competition follows a rigorous three-stage evaluation process covering technical knowledge, solution design, agent orchestration, and end-to-end implementation.

A proud moment for IIT Madras as 2nd-year Computer Science student Mr. Aryaman Mandal (CS24B007) has been selected to represent the Tamil Nadu Senior Water Polo Team at the Senior National Water Polo Championship in July 2026.
Aryaman, who joined IIT Madras through the Sports Excellence Admission (SEA) category, earned his place in the state team through the Tamil Nadu State Water Polo Selection Trials held in Chennai. He also becomes the first student from IIT Madras to be selected for the Tamil Nadu Senior Water Polo Team, marking a significant milestone for the Institute’s sporting community.
His achievement reflects exceptional dedication, perseverance, and excellence in sport, highlighting the success of IIT Madras’ efforts to support talented student-athletes in pursuing both academic and sporting ambitions.
We congratulate Aryaman on this remarkable accomplishment and wish him the very best as he represents Tamil Nadu on the national stage.

IIT Madras Director Professor V. Kamakoti, along with members of the Institute team, met the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru C. Joseph Vijay, today in Chennai and conveyed their congratulations on his assuming office.
The meeting was very fruitful wherein the IIT Madras delegation discussed a range of projects for potential collaboration between the Institute and the Government of Tamil Nadu. The delegation highlighted several initiatives and projects that could be explored jointly for the State. IIT Madras looks forward to deepening its engagement with the Government of Tamil Nadu.
