It aims to create a scientifically aware society and contribute to the technological and social development of the country. SPACE is providing services and products in the area of astronomy and space sciences to schools, colleges, NGOs, corporations, rural markets, clubs, hotels, and individuals. It is also a member of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), India's premier business association. SPACE Chennai is the Regional Office started in the year 2015 for the company presence in the state.

The Moon was never just grey 🌙

For centuries, we have looked at the Moon as a pale world of craters and shadows. But look a little closer, and it begins to reveal a hidden spectrum of colours, subtle blues, oranges, browns, and reds, each shaped by the minerals that make up its ancient surface.

This is the Mineral Moon, where colour becomes a glimpse into lunar geology. The bluish regions are associated with titanium-rich basalts, while the warmer tones reveal variations in iron and other minerals. What appears to be colour is actually the chemistry of another world, quietly written across the lunar surface.

To bring out these colours and details, 450 RAW frames were captured and stacked, allowing the subtle variations across the Moon to emerge from the data.

Every shade is a clue. Every crater is a chapter. And every patch of colour carries a story from a world that has been recording its history for billions of years.

This isn't a painted Moon. This is the Moon, revealing what our eyes normally miss. 🔭🌌

We Looked Up. The Sky Had Other Plans. 🔭🌧️

On 23 August, Thiruvanmiyur Beach came alive with curiosity as SPACE India celebrated National Space Day 2026 with a special Public Telescopic Observation. 🇮🇳🚀

Hundreds of curious minds gathered to experience the night sky through telescopes, with the Moon and Venus as our celestial highlights. 🌙✨

The evening started beautifully. Telescopes were aligned, questions filled the air, and eager eyes waited to explore the cosmos.

And then… the clouds arrived. ☁️

The sky gradually turned completely cloudy, and eventually, the rain joined us too! 🌧️

While the clouds may have hidden the stars, they couldn’t hide the curiosity, excitement and enthusiasm of the people who showed up to look beyond the clouds. ✨

Because astronomy isn’t always about getting a perfect sky.

Sometimes, it’s about showing up, looking up, and staying curious. 🌌

A big thank you to everyone who joined us at Thiruvanmiyur Beach and to our dedicated SPACE India team for making the event meaningful—even when the Universe decided to change the programme! ❤️🔭

The sky may have closed its window, but curiosity remains wide open. 🚀

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Mayilsamy Annadurai on his appointment as the Chairman of Tamil Nadu's Curriculum Design Committee. This is a proud moment for the education community and an inspiring step towards shaping a future-ready curriculum that nurtures curiosity, innovation, and scientific thinking.

Fondly known as the "Moon Man of India," Dr. Annadurai has played a pivotal role in India's landmark space missions, including Chandrayaan-1 and Mangalyaan. His remarkable journey from engineering excellence to becoming one of India's most respected science communicators reflects the power of knowledge, perseverance, and purpose.

His appointment sends a powerful message: education must prepare students not only to excel in examinations but also to solve real-world problems, embrace emerging technologies, and dream beyond conventional boundaries. Measure the Earth from Home!

Ever wondered how ancient astronomers figured out the size of our planet without satellites or GPS? More than 2,000 years ago, Eratosthenes did it using just sunlight, shadows, and simple geometry—and now it’s your turn!

SPACE India is hosting Project Paridhi, a flagship DIY workshop designed to introduce students from Classes 5 to 12 to the fundamentals of scientific observation and data analysis. Participants will learn how to estimate the Earth’s circumference using simple everyday items like a gnomon (stick/ruler) and the sun’s shadow, blending history, mathematics, and astronomy into an experiential learning session.

Curiosity launched. Creativity ignited. Young minds explored the universe! ✨

SPACE India successfully conducted an exciting Summer Camp at Victoria School CBSE from May 4th–9th, transforming classrooms into vibrant hubs of space exploration, innovation and hands-on STEM learning.

Students from Grades 1–5 stepped into the fascinating world of rockets, propulsion, satellites, the Sun, Moon and planets through engaging activities, rocket launch experiments, and evening sky observation sessions. They discovered how satellites help us communicate, navigate and understand our planet better while exploring the wonders of our Solar System 🌍☀️

Meanwhile, students from Grades 6 & above explored advanced STEM concepts through Hydrobot experiments, lunar settlement model making, safe solar observation, and exciting sessions on reflection, refraction, telescopes, and microscopes 🔭✨ During the special “World with the Sky” observation session, students also witnessed Jupiter and Venus shining brilliantly in the evening sky.

With around 24 enthusiastic participants, the camp became a wonderful blend of learning, teamwork, creativity, and discovery. The excitement in students’ eyes and the encouraging feedback from parents and teachers made the experience truly memorable 💫

The universe was not just observed - it was experienced. 🌠

Skylab was far more than just a spacecraft. It became a home, a science laboratory and a symbol of human determination beyond Earth.

Astronauts aboard Skylab conducted hundreds of experiments related to:
☀️ Solar activity and sunspots
🌍 Earth observation and environmental studies
🧪 Microgravity and human biology
👨‍🚀 Long-duration human spaceflight

The station also made history with the first major in-space repair mission after launch damage threatened the entire program. Astronauts successfully repaired Skylab in orbit, proving that humans could solve complex problems even in space. 🔧✨

During its missions, astronauts spent up to 84 days in orbit, a remarkable achievement at that time - helping scientists understand how the human body adapts to life in space. The lessons learned from Skylab later helped shape future programs including the International Space Station.

More than five decades later, Skylab remains one of the most important milestones in space history - a bold experiment that paved the way for humanity’s continued journey into the cosmos. 🌠

SPACE India, in collaboration with the District Administration, Mahoba, is proud to launch the All India Asteroid Search Campaign 2026! 900+ students will learn asteroid discovery using real astronomical data in Hindi, supported by 50+ trained teachers. A non-profit initiative bringing global space science to rural India!
