On 26th August 2025, alongside the Onam festivities, Vels Medical College and Hospital celebrated Teacher's Day with heartfelt gratitude for our faculty.

The program was inaugurated by our respected Dean, Dr. Kumadha Lingaraj ma'am, and Vice Principal (Academics), Dr. Prince J. Samuel sir.

The day featured a variety of events including a graceful group dance, the spirited Uriyadi competition, as well as engaging activities like Connexion and a colorful Fashion Parade. Students showcased their talents and creativity, while also expressing heartfelt appreciation for their teachers.

On 26th August 2025, Vels Medical College and Hospital celebrated the festival of Onam with great enthusiasm and cultural pride.

The program was inaugurated by our respected Dean, Dr. Kumadha Lingaraj ma'am, and Vice Principal (Academics), Dr. Prince J. Samuel sir.

The day featured traditional highlights including Chenda Melam, a vibrant group dance performance, and the spirited Uriyadi competition. The celebration brought together students, faculty, and staff in a memorable display of unity and tradition.

🩺 In-House Medical Camp – Blood Investigations | Karanodai

On 13 & 14 August 2025, Vels Medical College & Hospital successfully conducted a special in-house medical camp for NGO Religious Organization at Karanodai, focusing on blood investigations to promote preventive healthcare and early diagnosis.

Vels Medical College & Hospital and the Department of Pharmacology organized a Guest Lecture on Organ Donation Awareness on 12th August 2025 at Lecture Hall-2, Academic Block, VMCH. The session commenced with a prayer song and the lighting of the lamp, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Kumudha Lingaraj, Dean, VMCH, and felicitation of the guest speaker.

Dr. Aishwarya Rajkumar, Senior Consultant Pulmonologist, Dr. Rela Hospital, Chennai, delivered an insightful lecture highlighting the importance of organ donation and its impact on saving lives. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Maignana Kumar, Vice Principal – Accreditations, VMCH, and the National Anthem.

A meaningful day marked with awareness, intellect, and inspiration! Under the guidance of our respected Dean Dr. Kumudha Lingaraj, the Community Medicine Department successfully conducted a thought-provoking program on the occasion of World Population Day 2025.

🎁 Our esteemed Dean Madam distributed gifts and tokens of appreciation to all the participants, motivating young minds to think critically and engage in nation-building discussions.

💬 Alongside, patients, attenders, and students also greatly benefited from the insightful talks and discussions held during the event.

In keeping with the traditions of Department of Physiology in actively promoting co-curricular activities, a debate was conducted recently for the first year medical students on in Lecture Hall- 1 from 11.00 AM to 12.45 PM on MAT Vs MACHINE – What builds you better in commemoration of International Yoga Day.

Program started with introduction by Ms.Surekha. Dr.Prince J Samuel, Vice-Principal and Professor and Head of Department of Physiology welcomed all by his mesmerizing words. Our respected Dean Dr.Kumudha Lingaraj was felicitated by our HOD. The judges, moderator & Physiology HOD were felicitated by Dean.

There were 2 teams of 4 students each, 1.Mat – debating for Yoga & 2. Machine – debating for Gymnasium. Debate rules were set and followed. Three heads of various departments (Dr. Maignanakumar – VP Accreditation & Head of Pharmacology, Dr.Subbulakshmi – Head of Paediatrics, Dr.Sathyanarayanan – Head of Dermatology) had been appointed as Judges for our debate.

Dr.Jayasenthilnathan – Assistant Professor of General Medicine played the role of moderator.

Mat team was selected as the winners and one student from that team (Durva Salunkhe Ganesh) was selected as best speaker. They were all awarded books and certificates as prizes.

Debate program ended with vote of thanks by Dr.Lalitha Shanmugam, Professor of Physiology.

The Organizing team headed by Dr.Prince J Samuel, Vice-Principal and Professor and Head of Department of Physiology was supported by the rest of Department of Physiology - Dr.Lalitha Shanmugam, Dr.Sasikumar, Dr.Chandraselvi, Dr.Malathi, Dr.Samuel Sundar Doss & Ms.Surekha made valuable contributions towards the success of the program.

In keeping with the traditions of Department of Physiology since inception of VMCH, a QUIZ was conducted for the first year medical students . This year the quiz was conducted on 22.05.2025 at Lecture Hall- 1 from 8.00 AM to 12.45 PM on Renal Physiology titled RENAL RIDDLES & BLADDER BASICS.

The Organizing Chairman, Dr.Prince J Samuel, Vice-Principal and Professor and Head of Department of Physiology was supported by the rest of Department of Physiology. Organizing secretary- Dr.Lalitha Shanmugam and Organizing Committee – Dr.Sasikumar, Dr.Malathi, Dr.Samuel Sundar Doss & Ms.Surekha made valuable contributions towards the success of the program.

15 top students had been selected from a preliminary quiz having 100 MCQs. They were divided into 5 teams of 3 members each - Nephron Ninjas, Creatinine Crew, Renal Rangers, Glomerulo Masters and Nephro Navigators. There were 8 rounds 1. History round, 2. Hidden Identity Rounds, 3. Functional Anatomy round, 4. Clinical rounds, 5. Celebrities and Disorder round, 6. Recent Advances round, 7. Jumbled word Rounds, 8. Rapid Fire round. Audience rounds were also there.

Our Respected Dean Dr.Kumudha Lingaraj and Assistant Medical Superintendent Dr.Sathish Dev graced the event and announced the results.
All teams were awarded Medical textbooks and audience winners too received gifts from our Dean. Quiz program ended with vote of thanks by the Head of the Department.
