Jugaad + Technology can make a difference: An Inspiring Industrial Visit to Yali Mobility, Making Empowering Three-wheelers for Physically Challenged
---
Aishwarya Singh, 20-PDJ-018
---
Jugaad mindset fused with technology and a thoughtful approach to helping the disabled move around freely was the idea behind the ex*****on of Yali mobility. The IIT Madras incubated company has hulked an affordable solution for people with locomotor disabilities. They have hybridized the idea of a bike and a wheelchair together. Yali has the speed of a bike and the space for a wheelchair. The bike design makes the control and navigation easy and hassle-free. Students of 20 PDJ, Digital Journalism, Loyola College had a lesson in inclusivity through the Industry Visit on 21st April 2022.
The idea behind the innovation was to provide complete independence for the people with disabilities, who every now and then relied on other people to move around. The cost of transportation was another topic to debate on. A person with a disability who wanted to move around couldn’t do it without help and without burning a huge hole in their pockets, the absence of any of the two would completely restrict and diminish their day-to-day movement.
Keeping this in mind the team of Yali mobility has come up with an electrically powered three-wheeler that would do its magic. It is best supported for wheelchair users, a person with locomotor disabilities, and the elderly. The bike is constructed like a cocoon with a dual docking system to promise safety and assurance. Yali promises a comfortable and completely independent commute with no geographical limits. This will encourage its users and the billions of people with disabilities to move around anywhere anytime without assistance and with freedom.

By Beniel Jebastin P, 20-UAN-002
---
Christmas week is always magical, especially for Loyola College. Each and every Loyoltie would have relished all those beautiful moments, hearing those chores, winter weather, all those memories will have forged forever in all of our minds and soul. Because of covid, one Christmas celebration was lost. But not all.
The Department of KAUSHAL Kendra department started preparing for D-Day on 20th December 2021. Beautiful Christmas trees were done with paper, a nice-looking crib, and all the other essentials of Christmas were there. The Christmas celebration of KAUSHAL Kendra for the year 2021 compensated for what was lost the previous 25th December. It was sparkling all over at the Christmas celebration on 25th December 2021 at KAUSHAL Kendra.
These all are made possible because of the contributions of students from all sides and the guidance of faculty members. Mr. Senthil Kumar, Rhema Miriam B, Athrey C, J. James, Harsha Vardhini V, Beniel Jebastin P, Jafflin Maria, Utkarsh Agarwal, Nithish Kumar M, S Chirag Jain, Tiara Ansilla, Aaron, P Sarayu, Robinson J, Krishna Kumar A were just a small part of the big organization team. And the fruit we relished was so special. Happy and Merry Christmas…
