NICCS is a one-year PG Diploma in Integrated Counselling Skills, accredited by MSSW, designed to help bridge the gap between theory and real-world counselling practice.
With experiential learning, diverse frameworks, internships, supervision, and faculty who are practicing professionals from across the mental health field, NICCS offers a learning journey that is both reflective and practice-oriented.
As part of 10 years of NICCS, we are also introducing Workplace Informed Counselling (WICC) as an elective – expanding the way counselling can be understood and applied within organisational and workplace spaces.
Whether you’re exploring counselling as a profession, looking for a meaningful career shift, or seeking deeper engagement with psychology and people, NICCS offers a space to begin and grow.

NICCS Batch 8 spent four insightful days with Dr. Mohan Raj, psychiatrist, exploring Psychiatry for Counsellors – an important module that helps trainees better understand the intersections between counselling and psychiatric care.
For counsellors, having a foundational understanding of psychiatry is essential – not to diagnose or replace psychiatric support, but to recognise when additional care may be needed, understand the larger mental health landscape, and work more responsibly within it. Learning when to refer, collaborate, and hold appropriate boundaries is an important part of ethical counselling practice.
At NICCS, modules like these reflect the integrated nature of the course, where trainees are exposed to diverse perspectives and guided by experienced professionals from different areas of mental health work. This helps build counsellors who are not only reflective and skilled, but also informed and responsible in the way they engage with clients and systems of care.

People don’t leave themselves at the door when they go to work.
They carry their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and questions into the spaces they are part of.
As NICCS marks 10 years, this new specialisation opens up a way to understand people within these everyday environments — where roles, expectations, and human experience intersect.
Workplace Informed Counselling (WICC) brings counselling closer to where people spend a significant part of their lives, expanding how we listen, respond, and engage.
An additional step for those looking to deepen their practice in real-world contexts.

NICCS Batch 8 spent time engaging with the POSH module, facilitated by Nibbana’s own Indu and Pooja.
The session brought focus to understanding safety, boundaries, and responsibility within professional spaces — conversations that are essential for anyone working with people, in any context.
Indu and Pooja, both alumni of NICCS and now part of the Nibbana team, continue to remain closely involved in the programme — contributing to the learning process while also being part of the wider ecosystem of opportunities that NICCS offers beyond the classroom.
At NICCS, learning extends beyond therapeutic frameworks to include the realities that shape how individuals experience different environments. Modules like these add an important layer to the training, helping trainees become more aware, responsible, and grounded in their work.

Work today is not just about tasks or outcomes - it’s where people experience pressure, navigate relationships, make sense of themselves, and continue to evolve.
As NICCS completes 10 years, we’re expanding the way counselling is understood and applied with the introduction of a new elective - Workplace Informed Counselling Course - an opportunity to be additionally certified by Madras School of Social Work (MSSW)
This addition reflects a growing need to look beyond individuals in isolation and understand them within the environments they function in. It brings together counselling skills with real-world contexts, helping practitioners engage more meaningfully with the challenges people face at work.
A step beyond how counselling meets the world as it is.
