Research clearly demonstrates that good intake of food/snacks with high nutrients is linked to better behavior, better assimilation and of course improved academic performance.

As a part of our Life Skills, we celebrated ‘World Pistachio Day’ last month, to create awareness of ‘Healthy Snacking’. Every year, National Pistachio Day is celebrated on February 26th. The Pistachio is known as “the smiling nut’; because the split shell resembles a smiley. The Chinese call it the “Happy Nut”. Adding pistachio every day, can reduce the risk of heart problems.
Our learners created artworks with different types of nuts and explained the health benefits. The colorful artwork was done using the shells of Pistachios with colours. They also learnt that shells from salted pistachios can also be placed around the base of plants to deter slugs and pests. Research indicates that pistachio shells may be helpful in cleaning up pollution created by mercury emissions. Oh! It's not just a healthy snacking tutorial; it's about cracking the healthy story of the Smiley 😊 Nut..🥜

Science provides a platform for learners to use and apply their scientific knowledge and bring out the best of their scientific temper. It allows them to work together in groups facilitating peer learning. They share ideas and collectively galvanize those ideas to productive implementation.

SV Global celebrated National Science Day by conducting innumerable science experiments. Our young minds displayed their scientific skills in their Labs with great enthusiasm and zeal.

National Science Day is celebrated to mark the discovery of the Raman effect by Indian physicist Sir C.V. Raman every year on the 28th of February. To celebrate great achievements of our scientists and to develop a scientific temperament, contributing to the growth and development of our country, our learners made use of today's great platform to create awareness of the explosive developmemts in Science and Technology.

The theme for the year 2023 is “Global Science for Global Wellbeing”. This year’s theme highlights India’s emerging role on the global stage and its increasing visibility in the international community.

Our budding scientists exhibited various Science projects, models, and charts based on the concepts using scientific inquiry. Learners exhibited their learning of concepts through experiments that included models like simple circuits, 3D hologram reflection, respiratory systems, a model of a rocket, a ferrous wheel, parts of the plant, litmus paper test, lava lamp and making crystals using crystal powder. Our young learners were thrilled to understand complex systems through simple demonstrations. The working models prepared by our learners reflected their innovative ideas, creativity, and talent. To kindle the curiosity of our learners, these projects were prepared and displayed. Their explanation and justification for the questions posed by their peers were highly appreciated by the facilitators and they proved their efficiency in answering spontaneously.

In addition, our facilitators explained the future of Artificial Intelligence which is shaping the future of humanity across nearly every industry and is already the main driver of emerging technologies like Big Data, Robotics and IoT, and will continue to act as a technological innovator for the foreseeable future. To conclude the day our learners and facilitators took the pledge to save our environment for a better Tomorrow.

Learners through field trips sharpen their skills of observation and perception by utilizing all their senses.

As a part of our educational curriculum - Social Studies, SV Global believes that certain facts are best learnt by seeing. Learners from Peachy Pie to Grade 6 visited the Agasthiyar Temple at T. Nagar. Our primary goal was to re-enforce experiential and contextual learning and enhance their artistic skills and think about a topic or theme from a different perspective.

Learners were very much excited to see how beautifully the temple was designed and built. The temple houses both Lords Shiva and Vishnu. They came around the praharam of Sri Natarajar, Sri Ayyappan, Sri Dakshinamoorthy, Sri Sudharshanar, Sri Perumal, Goddess Durga, and Sri Anjaneyar sannidhis.

One of the priests from the temple explained more about the history and the temple's architecture. He said that the temple was more than 50 years old. Agasthyar was one of the most famous mythological saints. In the olden days, ‘nadi jothidam‘ was done with the help of 'olai chuvadi.’ Our Learners touched and sensed the palm leaf. It was a new experience for them to know more about ‘olai chuvadi’.

The most important aspect of nadi jothidam astrology is to predict our future according to our native. They are believed to be real in ancient history. The temple showcased explicit architecture and displayed some features of social life, with towering gopurams, each sculptured with unique features. They wandered through the mandapams and wondered how it was so cool inside though the weather was hot and sunny outside. Another unique feature of this temple was that all Navagraha idols (nine planets) were found along with their vaahanas and the temple was neatly maintained with figures of national leaders and spiritual leaders such as Variyar, Bharathiyar and VOC in the Temple Tower. Our social faculty gave a lot of information about the temple and how it gives us vital insights into human history and civilization.

Fantastic Friday Indeed!

Celebration of Love & Friendship in February

To create greater levels of kindness and compassion towards one another among learners and to encourage them to show sweeter sentiments with kind gestures and tokens of affection, we celebrated February as the month for ❤ & 🤝. Learners wrote and decorated cards and made colorful bracelets for their friends, parents, grandparents and siblings. The class was decorated by the learners and exchanged cards and bracelets with their besties and incorporated games with all friends’ names in a jar. Each learner picked a card, wrote about the person and exchanged notes and shared chocolates. Every learner spoke about a good deed to exhibit positivity.

“Safe Internet Day” was observed at SV Global yesterday, 7th February 2023. Theme being “Together for a Better and Safer Internet” our Information Technology Team worked towards spreading awareness to our learners about the importance of using the internet and the pros and cons of it. A quiz was conducted followed by a pledge on safe browsing. A video was shown about the social effects of cyberbullying.

At SV Global, we empower our learners with knowledge and understanding of keeping themselves safe online using SMART rules:

SAFE – Keep safe by being careful not to give out personal information when you’re chatting or posting anything online such as your email address, phone number and password.

MEETING – Meeting someone you have only been in touch with online can be dangerous. Get permission from your parents when they are with you. Remember online friends are still strangers and avoid talking to them for a long time.

ACCEPTING – Accepting emails, IM messages, or opening files, pictures, or texts from people who are unknown are dangerous. They may contain viruses or unwanted messages!

RELIABLE – Someone online might lie about who they are and share false information on the internet. So, always check information on other websites or books, or best, chat with your real-world friends and family.

TELL – Tell your parents or a trusted adult if someone or something makes you feel uncomfortable or worried. Don't be bullied online, let someone whom you trust, know!

In a nutshell, our learners become more confident, and safe digital citizens, committed to serving their society through safe browsing.

Everyone needs mathematics in their everyday life. Even insects use mathematics in their everyday life for existence. Snails make their shells, spiders design their webs and bees build hexagonal combs.

According to David Kolb, learning is the process whereby knowledge is created through the transformation of experience. With each new experience, the learner can integrate new observations with their current understanding.

As a part of the curriculum, our learners visited the supermarket. The objective of the trip was to explore and gain experience with an effective and engaging form of learning through experiential learning.

Learners were surprised to have their math concepts taught inside a department store/grocery shop by their Math Faculty. They utilized concepts of money and measurements in the shop whilst enjoyed the whole experience of shopping.
Our learners learnt to walk with their peers into the shop, surveyed, made questionnaires, estimated weights, made mental calculations and exploring the numbers. Apart from these skills, they watched patterns of display of fruits on the racks inside the store. They chatted with the store managers who were more than ready to answer their curious minds.

The idea of buying things using money as a mode of transaction, using addition and subtraction was applied by Grade 1. On the other hand, Peachy Pies learnt how to weigh things to find the difference between heavy and light. Graders 3 & 4 learnt how to check the capacity of a tetra pack - Litres or Millilitres and how to calculate the mass of fruits in kilograms and grams by placing them on a weighing scale. Our Grade 5 and 6 Learners were busy finding answers for their survey questionnaires.
It was an engaging and enriching trip experience for our Learners.

Education aids in the acquisition of information and boosts one's self-confidence both professionally and personally. It brings about mental agility, logical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving. In other words, we teach LIFE!

Our Educators took to spreading awareness about International Education Day and we celebrated this today - 24th of January.

We reminded ourselves about Universalization of Education in our country and discussed about providing primary and secondary education to all children worldwide. Children from underdeveloped countries are greatly affected and we need to recognize the importance of education in promoting not just development but most importantly, peace.

It was indeed a Terrific Tuesday and we discussed in great lengths about International Education Day.

Dance is the joy of movement and the heart of life. It is more than exploring different ways to make a shape or learning a series of steps to music; it is a way of moving that uses the body as an instrument of expression and communication.

Through Movement, our learners learn teamwork, focus and improvisational skills to enhance skills of perception, observation and concentration. It helps our learners to develop physical fitness, appreciation of the body and effective stress management, unique in their approach to nurturing the whole spectrum of every individual.

Welcome December!!! Let's make it Different and Daring!!!

Life skills - meaning, abilities for adaptive and positive behaviors that enable individuals to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life. Our learners were educated on the transformation of a butterfly from a caterpillar to face challenges in life. If we are willing to work hard and navigate through thick & thin, finding solutions on the way, we'll come out beautifully and colorfully like the butterfly. Preparing our learners for the challenges and opportunities together with personal and social responsibilities to become well-rounded individuals.

Triggering inquiry is about learning something new, and triggering curiosity is no small feat. Our learners are cognitively challenged as they engage themselves in solving Higher Order Thinking problems.

As we teach scientific objectives based on the 5E model, it provides a structure for learners to connect ideas with experiences. Our learners experience the ecstasy of Lab Investigations that attempt to investigate a problem. With the educator's guidance, the microscope lemon mold was shown along with different microorganisms.
