Happy to have participated in the birthday celebration of Poet Karikalan and his new book launch function held in Chennai.
The event was meticulously organized by Film Director Nanda Periyasamy (https://lnkd.in/gn6sE6Em ).
On behalf of the ITK group, Poet Karikalan was honored with the title "People's Poet." The award was presented by myself in the presence of other dignitaries.
ITK twice a year, recognizes luminaries from different fields and awards them with respected Titles honoring their work that impacts society at large. In this order, this is the second such Award being given away this year. Earlier this year, in an another event, ITK awarded Director Nanda Periasamy with the Title Award - 'People's Director' honoring him for his story, script, screenplay and direction for the Tamil movie - "Thiru. Manickam" - https://lnkd.in/gffTKyjg
The new anthology "Karuppu Vellai Kaalam," a collection of essays by Poet Karikalan published by Veral, was released by the noted Tamil Film Director Shri. Vasanthabalan. The first copy of the book was received by Film Director Nanda Periyasamy and myself.
The event concluded on a high note with greetings and congratulatory messages, poet recitals from distinguished thinkers, speakers. writers, journalist guests and literary friends.
It was a true honor to be present amongst such thinkers and reformers. Heartfelt thanks and best wishes to Film Director Nanda Periyasamy for orchestrating the event, inviting friends, and hosting a wonderful gathering. My love and appreciation to everyone who participated.
