Dream Teacher
Once students were writing an exam, and there was a question related to air. One particular student knew the answer very well but still forgot at the time of examination. While trying to recall the answer he saw a table with a bundle of papers, where one paper was blown away by air which made him recall the example, taught earlier by his science teacher using the example of paper. The student recalled the answer. That science teacher was Mr. Anbalagan.
Mr. Anbalagan is working in Panchayat Union Middle School, Uthiramearur at Kanchipuram district and popularly known 24x7 Science teacher by his fellow teachers because he clarifies the science related doubts in a very effective and efficient manner. The methods that he uses to teach Science topics are very well explained.
Mr. Anbalagan emphasizes on the Practical knowledge and his teaching methods are more inclined towards ‘learning by doing’.
Mr. Anbalagan has also given his contribution in bringing the script on “How to use the Science Exhibits in School” into an animation movie, written by Mr. Subbiah Pandian, Professor, Chennai Presidency College.
Everest Edusys & Solutions Private limited, Chennai is a private company who provides collection of more than 400 Curriculum Mapped Science Exhibits across Middle School. Out of which, 40 experiments have been permitted by Government to include in the syllabus. Mr. Anbalagan says that, “our School and Everest Edusys & Solutions Private Limited have established a Newton Science Club where Science contests are organized every month. We invite students from 11 different schools, where five different competitions are conducted on science topic and prizes are given to winners every month. Apart from that the school, which get maximum prizes across the year, is awarded a trophy.”
Mr. Anbalagan also participated in Computer Training Program for Government School Teachers organized by Government of Tamil Nadu in 2004-2005 and won State Level Award, presented by Microsoft Company 2011.
He always encourages his students to come forward and participate in various State Level Science Competitions. Ms. Kalaiarasi one of the student of Mr. Anbalagan got selected as a Young Scientist at National Child Conference of 2012-2013.
When asked whether Uthiramerur and Japan has any relationship?
He smiled and said that we are connected with Japanese Schools through “Connecting Class” and added that from India he is the only person who got an opportunity through a science project to participate in the program based on ‘improving the way of teaching in primary level science and math’s subjects’. He said “I also participated in a 45 days conference at Japan where I learnt more about their teaching methods and the ways classes should be handled and it gave me more confidence on effective teaching”.
Science teacher like Mr. Anbalagan can make science subject easy to understand for the students and can make the students fearless of examination.
