Atal Tinkering Lab Awareness and Support Webinars have been successfully conducted by EDII-TN and School Education Department for Salem and Perambalur Districts on 5th October, 2020

Schools that have already been selected for Atal Tinkering Labs and require further assistance/guidance were invited for the webinars.
Session 1 - 11:00 am to 12:30 pm - 29 Schools
Session 2 - 02:00pm to 03:30 pm - 35 Schools (ATL List 6038)

The participating Headmasters and Teachers were briefed about the complete application process, eligibility criteria for any school to apply and the possibilities/common mistakes that are made for a school’s application to be rejected, fund utilisation and the management of PFMS, GeM Portal and ATL Dashboard. Once every topic was discussed, the participants were encouraged to ask questions and clear all their doubts.

We, sincerely thank Salem CEO Th. Ganesh Moorthy for attending the session and for supporting the initiative. We, also thank Th. M.A. Aravind, Infinite Engineers and Th.S.Sathiyan, ATL Mentor of Change for clearly explaining the processes of running a ATL successfully, being the resource persons and technical partners for this initiative.

In Tamil Nadu, there are about 1455 Schools (~789 Government and Government Aided Schools) that have been selected by Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) and there are also many eligible high schools and higher secondary schools that are not aware / require support in the application process for Atal Tinkering Labs.

Hence, it is planned to conduct Two Webinars for each district to
1. Schools that have already been selected by Atal Innovation Mission and require further assistance/guidance.
2. Schools that are eligible for the scheme and require awareness along with assistance/guidance in the application process and setting up Atal Tinkering Lab.

EDII through a call-for and through the previous collaborations with Startups and School Education Department has on-boarded Infinite Engineers, Asimov Global Technologies, Agginnov, InroLabs and ATL Mentors of Change as resource persons and technical partners.

Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute, Tamil Nadu (EDII-TN), MSME Department in collaboration with the School Education Department, GoTN have planned to conduct a series of Webinars for Atal Tinkering Lab Awareness & Support across all the Districts of Tamil Nadu.

The Objective of the programme is to encourage the establishment of more Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs) in our state by creating awareness to the school headmasters/principals and teachers about the application and documentation process, setting up of ATLs, using GeM and ATL dashboards, maintenance, fund utilization (PFMS), and successful implementation of ATLs.

The Fifth and Final 4 Day Residential Training Programme has been conducted for Trichy Zone at Hallmark Business School, Trichy organized by EDII-TN and Hallmark Business School, Trichy with support from IEDP Hubs of Anna University UCE-BIT Campus and Sastra University, Thanjavur during 06.02.2020 to 09.02.2020. 108 Students from 36 Schools of 7 Districts (Trichy, Karur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Perambalur and Ariyalur) have been qualified from Stage 1 District Level Selections. Out of which 84 Students from 28 Schools and 30 Teachers/Parents have participated in the programme.

We, TANSIM/EDII-TN greatly appreciate the efforts & Commitment of Hallmark Business School Management, Director Dr. SR. Rameshkumar, Th. B.DineshKumar, Tmt. N.Vaseema, Dr. G. 1. Govt Hr Sec School, Thirumullaivasal, Nagapattinam – Mechanical Fingers, Hands and Arms for Handicapped People which are customisable and already tested by the students. The Students utilized low cost plastics and wood components to develop their prototypes. With some support and mentoring, the models could be 3D printed according to the patient’s need and demand.
2. Govt Hr Sec School,Thirubhuvanam,Thanjavur - INDI-Finger - Fingerprint Forensics Handheld Device integrated with fingerprint data of UIDAI and Govt of India to help police and military solve Crime Cases. The device uses UV Light to observe and High Definition Cameras to capture fingerprints in 2D and 3D and match them with the available database.
3. KSV Hr Sec School, Thulasikodambu, Karur - Smart Public Transport - Single App for all services and problem solving of Local Buses, Emergency sos, overload meter, bus tracking, disciplinary issues to be solved by messages to authorities, TICKETING Services online, Late night safety as well.

The Fourth Zonal Level Residential Workshop – Tirunelveli Zone- Stage 2 of Tamil Nadu Ilam Innovators Challenge has been organized by IEDP Hub of Anna University Regional Campus, Tirunelveli at SCAD College of Engineering and Technology, Cheranmahadevi during 31.01.2020 to 03.02.2020. 79 Students from 27 Schools of 5 Districts (Tirunelveli, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Thoothukudi and Kanniyakumari) have been qualified from Stage 1 District Level Selections. Out of which 53 Students from 18 Schools and 16 Teachers/Parents have participated in the programme.

1. SLB Government Hr sec school, Nagercoil -Emergency Crash Locator - A device which could be programmed to measure the impact and send alert messages with precise location of the crash site to all nearby hospitals and police stations.
2. Government Higher Secondary School, Irumeni, Ramanathapuram District - Harvesting Solar Power using CDs - The CDs were wound with copper coil and connected with diodes and capacitors in series to generate enough power to light a lamp - Their problem statement is targeted for the coastal villages and interior areas of Ramanathapuram Dist and they also have tested the product.
3. Devanagar Girls Hr Sec School, Aruppukottai, Virudhunagar District - Special Aid for Hearing Impaired People which notifies the riders of incoming vehicles on left or right with vibration alert on the respective handles... They have extended their use case to determine the proximity of bikes or vehicles in the blind spots of buses and trucks as well.

The Third Zonal Level Residential Workshop – Madurai Zone- Stage 2 of Tamil Nadu Ilam Innovators Challenge has been conducted successfully at Anna University Regional Campus, Madurai during 09.01.2020 to 12.01.2020. 90 Students from 30 Schools of 6 Districts (Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Pudukkottai, Namakkal, and Sivagangai) have been qualified from Stage 1 District Level Selections. Out of which 84 Students from 29 Schools and 30 Teachers/Parents have participated in the programme.

We, TANSIM/EDII-TN greatly appreciate the efforts of the Dean, Prof Dr.V.Malathi, Assistant Prof Dr. R.GopalaKrishan, Deputy Warden for Boys Hostel Dr. K.Karthikeyan and Mr.V.Arun, Deputy Warden for Girls Hostel Dr.P.Umamaheswari, Th. 1. V.M. Government Boys Hr Sec School, Periyakulam (Theni District) - The students empathised the Carpenter’s Work and the dangers of handling Cutting Machine manually. The Cutting Machine during operation has the tendency to repel back and hit the carpenter when he/she loosens their grip on the short handle. The students have added value to the existing machine with long handles and sensors to avoid such accidents.
2. Kalaimagal Matric Hr Sec School (Namakkal District) – Their idea caters to two different customer segments – People who attend Marriages and People who organize them. Their App is called Marriage Map, which provides all the services & contacts for everything related to weddings, party planning and any other event.
3. ECN Vidyalaya (Matric) School (Theni District) – Agriculture – Crop Specific Monitoring System especially catering to vine plants such as Grapes, Jasmine ,etc. Disease Prevention, Pest Identification and Agricultural Parameters control system, which is to be installed as per the Farmer’s Demand.

The Second Zonal Level Residential Workshop – Coimbatore Zone- Stage 2 of Tamil Nadu Ilam Innovators Challenge has been conducted successfully at Anna University Regional Campus, Coimbatore during 03.01.2020 to 06.01.2020, organized by IEDP Hub of AURCC.

100 Students from 34 Schools of 7 Districts (Coimbatore, Dharmapuri, Erode, Salem, Nilgiris, Tiruppur and Krishnagiri) have been qualified from Stage 1 District Level Selections. Out of which 76 Students from 26 Schools and 26 Teachers/Parents have participated in the programme.

We, TANSIM/EDII-TN greatly appreciates the efforts of Dr. K.Kanthavel, Hub Coordinator of IEDP Coimbatore Hub and his ED-Cell team of Th. N.Sekar, Tmt. K.Saranya, Th. S. Sam Jaikumar, Th. Tamil Nadu Ilam Innovators Challenge 2019 – Coimbatore Zone and were awarded Rs 10,000/- each for developing their Idea into a Prototype.
 Government High School, Kanuvai (Coimbatore District) - The student's parent is a welder by profession, and he has taken the concept of empathy to feel his father's pain and wanted to make a welding mask that is lightweight and easy to use with minimum lux and microfiber filtration masks inbuilt.
 Government Hr Sec School, Seenapuram (Erode District) - They have prepared a proof of concept of using trash (Organic and Inorganic) as fuel using their father's bike and made it as a hybrid low-cost motorbike. Their next step is to test the sustainability component of their concept.
 Adarsh Vidyalaya Matric Hr Sec School (Tiruppur District) – Agriculture – partnership model with TNAU and agricultural machinery manufacturers to cater to the needs of the farmers both as a service and as an application. They have already created the application and are working on building solid data and regionalized voice commands for farmers

The First Zonal Level Residential Training Workshop- Chennai Zone - Stage 2 of Tamil Nadu Ilam Innovators Challenge 2019 has been successfully conducted at Madras Institute of Technology, Anna University, Chennai during 28.11.2019 to 01.12.2019.

98 Students from 33 Schools from 8 Districts (Chennai, Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur, Vellore, Villupuram, Tiruvannamalai, Cuddalore and Krishnagiri) qualified for Stage 2 from the District Level Selections. Out of which, 26 Schools (78 Students and 24 Teachers) participated in the programme.

We, TANSIM/EDII-TN greatly appreciate the efforts of Dr. T.Thyagarajan, Dean, MIT, Dr. Neelavathy Pari, Assistant Director, EDC, MIT Campus, Dr. Vasanthan, Deputy Warden, Marudham Hostel, Th. TAMIL NADU ILAM INNOVATORS CHALLENGE 2019 Stage 1 – District Level Selections has been conducted successfully for Nilgiris District at Breeks Memorial Anglo Indian School, Ooty on 14.11.2019, by the collaborative efforts of Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute EDII TN (Autonomous Society of Government of Tamil Nadu under MSME Department), IEDP Hub of Anna University Regional Campus, Coimbatore and School Education Department, GoTN, under the guidance of Th. M. Vasu, Joint Director (NSS).

We humbly thank Dr.K.Kandavel, Hub Coordinator of EDII IEDP Hub of Coimbatore, Anna University, Coimbatore and his team Tmt. Saranya, Field Coordinator, Th. Manikandan, Field Coordinator and Th. Marudhu, ED Cell, for making all the necessary arrangements and coordinating with the CEO of Nilgiris District and the Principal of Breeks Memorial Anglo Indian School.

Representing Nilgiris, 8 Schools (30 Students and 12 Teachers) have participated in the One Day Programme that tested the Student’s Communication Skills, Creativity, Team work and Critical Thinking through a Gamified Module developed by TNIIC 2019 Team. Out of the 8 Schools, 3 Best Schools were selected based on their performance by the District Captains R.Shibi and A.Gopinath of KIT-Kalaignar Karunanidhi Institute of Technology, who facilitated the programme and trained the students.

The Certificates were issued to the students during the Valedictory Session which was graced by wonderful speeches from Th. Arjunan, PA to CEO, Correspondent, Breeks CBSE Hr Sec School and Principal of Breeks Memorial Anglo Indian School. The Selected Schools are qualified for the Zonal Level Stage 2 – 4 Day Residential Training Workshop to be held at Coimbatore post Half Yearly Examinations.

And Thank you to the wonderful teachers who have supported and understood the importance of the programme which focuses on inculcating and promoting the 21st Century Skills in school students with the hope that they will become the future innovators and successful entrepreneurs of Future India.
