Vishal breaks the 400m men's National Record with a timing of 45.12 seconds at the National Inter-State Athletics Championships.

The 23-year-old bettered the previous mark of 45.21 set by Muhammed Anas in 2019.

S. Tamilarasu won gold in the men’s 100 m at the 2025 National Inter-State Championships in Chennai, clocking 10.22 seconds.

This performance makes him the joint third-fastest Indian in history. Ahead of him on the all-time list are Animesh Kujur (10.18 s) holding the national record, Gurindervir Singh (10.20 s), and Manikanta Hoblidar (10.22 s), with Tamilarasu now sharing the 10.22 s mark alongside Manikanta.

All these 4 performances have come in 2025. Additionally, the men's 4×100 m relay team—comprising Gurindervir Singh, Animesh Kujur, Manikanta Hoblidar, and Amlan Borgohain—set a new national record of 38.69 s at the Indian Open Relay Competition in Chandigarh, surpassing the previous 15-year-old record of 38.89 s set during the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi. So we are seeing a collective rise in the nation's sprinting capabilities.
