On 2nd May, exactly 108 years ago, Ramanujan was conferred with the prestigious FRS (Fellow of Royal Society) at Trinity College, Cambridge University, London. He was the second Indian and first Indian mathematician to receive this great honor. On this memorable moment, we are happy to share the photo of the first bust of Srinivasa Ramanujan made by Paul Granlund and presented to Royal Society of London by great Indian Physicist and Nobel Laureate Chandrasekhar.

We pray Ramanujan to shower his blessings to all students, research scholars, teachers and enthusiasts to have blessed life.

30th April, 2026 is 249th Birth Anniversary of Carl Friedrich Gauss. He worked in a wide variety of fields in both mathematics and physics incuding number theory, analysis, differential geometry, geodesy, magnetism, astronomy and optics. His work has had an immense influence in many areas.

Gauss was a child prodigy and by age of 15, he discovered Bode's law, the binomial theorem and the arithmetic- geometric mean, as well as the law of quadratic reciprocity and the prime number theorem. His book Disquistiones Arithmeticae published in 1801 was a classic in number theory and was read by almost all mathematicians during that era.

Gauss did remarkable work in Astronomy, Differential Geometry, Magnetic Induction and contributed to wide areas of Science. He attained a great position in Gottingen University. For wide contributions in Science, Gauss was awarded the prestigious Copley Medal in 1838.

Distinguished mathematicians like Johann Listing, Christian Ludwig Gerling, Richard Dedekind, Bernhard Riemann, Christian Peters and
Moritz Cantor did their doctoral degrees under the supervision of Gauss. Getting even a single word praise from Gauss is considered to be worthy of several pounds of Gold. Riemann got such praise for his wonderful dissertation work in Non - Euclidean Geometry.

Dirichlet, Eisenstein, Kirchoff, Ernst Ku**er, Mobius, Sophie Germain were some of his notable students who became distinguished mathematicians themselves in later years.

Gauss along with Archimedes and Euler were considered to be three most important and influential mathematicians of all times. We are happy to share a photo of his statue situated at his Birthplace.

1st May, 2026 is birthday of living legend and one of finest mathematicians of our times Dr. P.R. Vittal who is around 88 years of age by now.

Apart from being an exceptional professor, he is a very active researcher specializing in Stochastic Process, Probability and Reliability Theory and much more. He has been plenary speaker at numerous conferences both in India and several other countries. We pray almighty to bless him with long life to serve mathematical community.

On behalf of Pie Mathematics Association, we take great pride and privilege upon wishing him for many more happy returns of the day.

We are happy to share a photo of Dr. P.R. Vittal during his talk at Summer Training Programme organized by Pie Mathematics Association four years ago. Long live his contributions and legacy.

In view of remembering the genius mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan on his 106th Anniversary, we share some of his quotes:

1. No, it is a very interesting number, it is the smallest number expressible as a sum of two cubes in two different ways.
2. An equation means nothing to me unless it expresses a thought of God.
3. I beg to introduce myself to you as a clerk in the Accounts Department of the Port Trust Office at Madras on a salary of only £20 per annum. I am now about 23 years of age. … After leaving school I have been employing the spare time at my disposal to work at Mathematics.
4. I have not trodden through a conventional university course, but I am striking out a new path for myself. I have made a special investigation of divergent stories in general and the results I get are termed by the local mathematicians are as ‘startling’.
5. To preserve my brains I want food and this is now my first consideration. Any sympathetic letter from you will be helpful to me here to get a scholarship…

The last quote was most touching one, as Ramanujan explained plainly about his situation to Hardy. Such a great mind did remarkable mathematics in spite of extreme poverty. There are much human lessons apart from mathematics that one can learn from Ramanujan's life.

We are also sharing the place where Ramanujan breathed his last exactly 106 years ago on the same day.

26th April, 2026 is 106th Remembrance Day occasion of Srinivasa Ramanujan, a mathematical genius and global representative of India in terms of scientific achievements.

His formulas are like the most remarkable paintings drawn by skillful artist. We share one of such formulas produced by Ramanujan for computing pi using continued fraction.

Pie Mathematics Association take this opportunity to pay homage to Ramanujan and seek his blessings to everyone.

15th April, 2026 is 319th Birth Anniversary of the greatest mathematician Leonhard Euler. His impact through contributions in almost all disciplines of mathematics continue to exist until this universe exist. Considered as Godfather of mathematics, Euler stands an example of hardwork and achievements.
Here are some of the quotes attributed to Euler by other eminent mathematicians
1. “Read Euler: he is our master in everything" - Laplace
2. “Our jewel ... one of the most remarkable, almost astounding, formulas in all of mathematics” - Richard Feynman, 20th century American physicist on Euler’s identity formula.
3. “Like a Shakespearean sonnet that captures the very essence of love, or a painting that brings out the beauty of the human form that is far more than just skin deep, Euler's equation reaches down into the very depths of existence”– Keith J. Devlin, 20th century British mathematician and popular science writer on Euler’s identity formula.
4. “He calculated without any apparent effort, just as men breathe, as eagles sustain themselves in the air" – François Arago, French mathematician, physicist, and astronomer.

On the birthday of Genius mathematician, Pie Mathematics Association feel honored and happy to share a small article about Euler published few years ago.

5th April, 2026 is 125th Birth Anniversary of legendary Indian mathematician S.S. Pillai.

To commomerate this memorable occasion Pie Mathematics Association conducted an online event explaining life and works of Pillai. More than 50 young and enthusiastic students participated and got thrilled to know about his achievements. We are happy to share a small article about S.S. Pillai which got published in Times of India newspaper ten years ago. Long live his legacy.

Pillai another Ramanujan, but just not well known Srinivasa Ramanujan’s story is now part of the folklore of mathematics. But there was another number theorist who could have followed in Ramanujan’s footsteps but remains relatively unsung. Born in 1901 to a poor couple...
