The school is located in the suburbs of Chennai, with the community mainly involved in day-wage labour and is chiefly below poverty line.
This school was started in the year 1965 with 10 students and one teacher in a small, thatched shed with the aim of providing free education to the children of poor, casual workers in the Ambattur locality.
