It is with great sorrow and pain that I write this note of condolence to share your grief at the passing away of your beloved husband, Dr. Sudipto Pal.
Sudipto was very dear to me and I have cherished my association with him which spans for a decade. As you are aware, I have known Sudipto as an UG student and more intensely as a PG in my department. He was a very industrious, sincere, and diligent student, who never let go an opportunity to learn the nuances of the science. His were among the best treated cases in his batch and it is not an exaggeration to say he was one of our best students.
Personally, I had a soft heart for him because of his mannerism, sincerity, and transparency. Sudipto’s strength besides other things was his ability to get along with people. He had an outstanding rapport with all the staff, and his junior and senior students. It was my affection for Sudipto plus the fact that he had chosen you as his life partner attracted me to attend your wedding in person. I have been in constant touch with him and I spoke to him a few weeks ago. I have admired his courage and determination to come up in the profession. He has been making very steady strides to inch his way up in this competitive world.
Besides me, all my faculty members feel so orphaned at Sudipto’s loss. He was by far the most popular of our old student. I have received several phone calls from his former teachers, UG, and PG class mates and junior and senior colleagues from Ragas and from the Indian Orthodontic Society, who have all poured in their heart felt sentiments at the loss of Sudipto.
Life has been too harsh on you, but I hope that the Almighty gives you the courage to withstand the irreplaceable loss and to derive some joy from the two lovely children that you have been blessed with.
May Sudipto’s soul rest in peace. My staff and students join me in my prayers to give you strength and peace.
Yours in bereavement
Dr. N.R. Krishnaswamy
