Many a time it is an intimidating feeling to apply to these prestigious universities as one would feel that schools with an international curriculum or only members who have the financial capacity to pay the high tuition fee have the advantage to join these universities.

The visiting Admission Officers of these universities have highlighted to us that the purpose of their presentation is to help you feel less intimidated and feel confident to aspire to join these prestigious universities. They have shared that this presentation is as much meant for schools adopting the National and State board curriculum as with other international boards of education.

They have highlighted that there is substantial financial aid / scholarships offered for deserving students who apply.

This is a wonderful opportunity that has come to our Chennai city for the very first time just for you. Don’t miss this chance. We look forward to seeing you at Arsha Vidya Mandir on the date of the presentation.

Pongal celebrations - 13th January 2018

A festive aura spread across the halls of Arsha Vidya Mandir as Pongal celebrations commenced on the 13th of January, 2018.

Draped in Sarees and Veshtis, the students put up various shows with enthusiasm and traditional fervour.

In order to make the Pongal celebration at our school special, students were more than ready with their performances.

The celebration commenced with a thought-provoking speech on how we must equate our thought to the sun by Subramanian of grade 12. He enlightened us how ones thoughts must help us lead our own path. He ensured that our day started with a powerful message and left us all clapping till the very end.

Following him, the Villu Paatu team took us on a short tour to the countryside of Tamilnadu through their performance. The Villu Paatu was aimed at educating us on how Pongal is celebrated over the four days in a cheerful manner and topics such as Jallikattu were touched upon.

The power packed performance was accompanied by an equally engrossing Kummisong, that was sung by students from grade 6-8.

The celebrations came to an end with heart filled wishes from our Principal and our Chief Programme Co-ordinator.

“Christmas is not a time, nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill and to be plenteous in mercy is to have the real spirit of Christmas!” - Calvin Coolidge.

The day began with a Christmas message of “Share love to all” by Ajay Venugopal of class IX. After Ajay delivered his Christmas message, the junior choir, comprising of students from classes 3-5, sang their first song of “Jingle bell rock” and brought in the essence of the festive.

The students of grade 3, 4 and 5 also performed a skit named ‘A Christmas Story’. This short skit not only brought out the essence of the festive but also brought many hidden talents to the limelight.

Carol singing is an essential and an important part of Christmas celebrations. The word Carol actually means dance or a song of praise and joy!

The senior choir made a fusion of Christmas carols and sang it beautifully to their audience.

Finally Santa Claus, came in as a surprise and went around distributing sweets to all children.

PRE-PRIMARY CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION REPORT

Instilling traditional values in our children has been an important part of our curriculum. Various festivals are celebrated in the school and children get to learn about our Indian traditions and the stories and episodes related to each festival of different religions.

Christmas Celebration, at Arsha Vidya Mandir 's Pre-primary wing, was celebrated on the 22rd of December 2017 with great joy .

In keeping with the Christmas spirit, the whole Pre-primary was festooned with colourful decorations. The children and teachers came dressed in red, green and gold .

The Programme began in the presence our Principal, Chief programme coordinator, students of grades 1, 2 and teachers. Children from PP2 welcomed the gathering with a welcome address.

The pre-primary wing vibrated with the echoes of Christmas carols on the occasion of Christmas. The wing wore a festive look with the bells, stars, Christmas tree, Santa, candles and Antelopes. The celebration culminated with the song, wishing all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Santa made a grand entry and surprised the children. The delight was uncontained especially as Santa danced and gave them sweets. The day ended on a happy note with Children imbibing the true message of Christmas - love, joy and goodwill to all.

Crowd Sourcing An Idol Hunt- Restoring India's Pride - Talk By Mr. Vijay

The 13th of December was marked as one of the most memorable day as we had an eminent person, Mr. Vijay Kumar to address the gathering on the topic ‘Crowd sourcing an Idol hunt- Restoring India's Pride".

It is one of the most awaited sessions. His talks usually inspire many of us to do something beneficial for our country. This session was an eye opener for many of us because though we knew idols were being stolen from our country, we did not know the magnitude of it.

The “India Pride Project” tries to restore India’s lost heritage and idols from other countries. He spoke about the strategies used to claim the idols stolen and the procedure the government needs to undergo to retrieve them.

The figures of the number of idols retrieved so far from the 1960’s to 2012 were alarming; only 17 idols were retrieved out of 1000. After this project, many initiatives were taken and the project gained momentum through social media which helped them restore many more stolen idols after 2012.

He brought the real facts to light about an idol smuggler, Subash Kapoor who had stolen thousands of idols from India and had sold it for millions to museums of other countries. He also told us about the online markets which sell our Indian temple idols and sculptures. He did not fail to inspire most of us to support and help the “India Pride Project” through his informative speech. It would be a privilege for us to be a part of it and to contribute to finding the lost treasures of our nation.

His talk motivated us to such a great extent that we focussed on the theme for our class discussions and learned more about Subash Kapoor. We also discussed about the temples in our hometowns and how they have changed overtime. During the learning process, we also looked into many other idols, admired them and more importantly tried to understand their significance.

Overall, we loved the session because Mr. Vijay kept it simple and opened our eyes to the facts. We look forward to help him and to have many sessions like this with him in the future. It was indeed a great opportunity for us to interact with Mr.Vijay.
is viral among us. The concept of Ghar vapsi is not only his passion but ours too now.
