Where will Drugs for Tomorrow come from??...
Drug Discovery has come a full circle, by starting off from plants, plant isolated purified molecules, to semi-synthetic to synthetic, to small molecule biologics....still our drug discovery pipeline is running dry, not many new drugs to tackle the Global Disease Burden...
Comment on what you think will be the next in line of our arsenal of new drugs....

Herbs and Wound Care!!
Chronic Wound Care: both a challenge and a resource drain on the already burdened healthcare budgets
Traditional wound dressings do little other than to cover and protect.
Many plants heal wounds and are demonstrated to do so in many animal models.
Many of them have a very long history of traditional and folk lore use as powerful wound repair resources
Why don't we include them into dressings and develop standardised ethical wound care material?
What are the issues and how could this be a possibility
Our paper has some tips👇😀

And to kick things off I will be opening my brand-new Facebook group (100% free to join)...
So I can begin to arm more Health care and Life Science Professionals with the learning strategies and guidance to be successful in updating their know-how on herbs much more than the routine herb-use information.
If this sounds like it would be helpful for you, here’s an insight into what I’ll be sharing inside the group:
✅ #1.) Lessons on The Three Learning Pillars of My ‘Decoding Herbal Intelligence’ method will let you navigate through the time-tested principles of herbalism with confidence and clarity
✅ #2.) Resources to help with self-study and application to your field of study and practice
✅ #3.) Strategies to ensure you are set up for success with professional development, giving you that edge over in your career.

Breast cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women.
Turmeric is the most extensively used cancer supplement
Curcumin/curcuminoids are the purported turmeric bio-actives heavily promoted as its 'active ingredients'.
Turmeric devoid of curcuminoids also shows anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant activities.
This clinical study was a part of our study that looked at the possible effect of turmeric on the chemotherapy drug in breast cancer patients.
Benefits of whole turmeric over its constituents has not many advocates due to the lack of commercialization scope
👇Whole turmeric is a natural matrix which in our Clinical study has improved the quality of life and the blood parameters of breast cancer patients.
The Benefits hypothesized to be from the integrated effects of multi-constituent turmeric rather than isolated active constituents needs the attention of Integrated Medicine Research
Groups.

TOMORROW'S DRUGS??
* Current understanding of the multifactorial nature of chronic human diseases calls for drug cocktails and not single purified molecules targeting one receptor.
* Over 3 decades of research on herbs shows them to be nature made cocktails of synergistic molecule combinations
* Herein could lie the key to the long undeciphered logic of herbalism
* Time for a relook at the time-tested drugs of ancient herbalist knowledge systems

Now that’s motivation…🙏😊 Happy to repost such positive echoes…
There is a bumblebee poster hanging at the NASA Space Science Center that says:
"The aerodynamic body of bumblebees is not fit to fly, but it's good that the bumblebee doesn't know about it."
In the law of physics, the aerodynamic rule says the width of wings is too small to keep her massive body in flight, but the bee doesn't know, knows nothing about physics or its logic and still flies.
This is something we can all do, fly and win at any time before any difficulties and under any circumstances despite what they say.
Bumblebees, regardless of the size of wings, fly and enjoy life.

HERBAL SUPPLEMENT (HS) SELF-ADMINISTRATION AMONG CANCER PATIENTS IS A CAUSE FOR CONCERN GIVEN THE POTENTIAL FOR HERB-DRUG INTERACTION WITH CHEMOTHERAPY (OUR SURVEY REPORT PUBLISHED IN JOURNAL OF CANCER RESEARCH AND THERAPEUTICS)👇
**Despite a very long history of herbal drug usage, ours was the first study that estimated the prevalence of HS usage as 24% in the studied cohort at a Tertiary Care Medical Center in South India
**68.4% of the cohort did not inform their Physician about their HS usage
**A rising prevalence of HS usage proposes the need for a robust evidence base for Cancer-related HS use
**Awareness and provision of educational resources and better awareness of such use is mandated for Physicians, Patients and care providers.
Herbal supplement usage among cancer patients: A questionnaire-based survey - PubMed
Chemotherapy and unemployment are predictors of HS usage, and there is a significant association between occupation status and HS usage. This first study on HS prevalence among South Indian population proposes the need for a more robust evidence base for understanding all aspects of HS use in cancer...
