The Students Union for the year 2022-23 was inaugurated today at College in the esteemed presence of the Chief Guest Thiru. K. Bharathi Rajan, Assistant Commissioner of Police, T. Nagar, and Dr. K. S. Lakshmi, Secretary, Meenakshi College.

Thiru Bharathi Rajan gave a motivational talk to the students and told them that they should read a lot and be knowledge-hungry, rather than wasting time. He gave students important guidance regarding being safe in cyber space.

Ovia M. & Niranjana M. of III & II B.Sc. Computer Science were part of the Kanchipuram District Throwball Team, which won the 4th place Trophy in the Tamil Nadu Inter-District Throwball Championships on 10 July 2022.

Samvatasarabhisheka was performed at all the 3 shrines (Sharadamba, Mahaganapathy and Venkatachalapathy) of the Sringeri Sharadamba Temple in the College Campus on Saturday, 2 July, 2022. It was on this day in 2012, that the Sringeri Jagadguru had performed the Kumbhabhisheka of the renovated temple.

Faculty members, devotees from the general public and hundreds of students visited the temple on the auspicious day to witness the abhishekas.

On 25th June, 2022, Dr. K. S. Lakshmi, Secretary, Meenakshi College for Women, was conferred the Sri Bharathi Theertha Puraskar by Jagadguru Sri Vidhushekhara Bharathi Swamigal of the Sringeri Sharada Peetham, to recognize her immense service to the Sringeri Matha. The award function was held in Bengaluru.

This year, to mark the completion of the 72nd Vardhanti of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Bharathi Theertha Mahaswamigal, the Shankaracharya of the Sringeri Sharada Peetham, 72 persons were awarded the Puraskar in recognition of their unstinted service to the Sringeri Matha in various fields and capacities.

First Touch Football Academy felicitated Trailblazers in Sports, to recognize their contribution to their respective sport for over four decades, on 26th June, 2022. The honour for Football went to Ms. Sankari S., Director of Physical Education, Meenakshi College for Women. Many congratulations!

R. Saranya of III B.Sc. Mathematics (Shift I) bagged a Silver Medal in the first ever National Rowing Championships held at the new world-class rowing facility on Dal Lake, Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, on 25th June 2022. Congratulations!

In the 18th International Okinawa Goju-Ryu Ipoh City Karate Open Championship 2022 held in Malaysia from 27-29 May, 2022, Pratishtha B. of III B.A. English Literature won a Gold Medal and a Bronze medal. She was also felicitated at the tournament for being a coach and a referee for some of the matches. Congratulations to the Karate Champion!

Staff and students attended a Yoga workshop conducted online by The Art of Living and organized by AICTE, from 1-20 June, 2022, in the run-up to the International Day of Yoga

Meenakshi College and Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Intellectual Property Management (RGNIIPM) (Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India) Nagpur, jointly organized an Online Workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Patents and Design filing” this evening.

The workshop was attended by over 200 participants that included students and Faculty members of the Department of Computer Science of the College.

Mrs. Pooja Vishal Maulikar, Examiner of Patents and Designs, RGNIIPM, Nagpur, delivered a deeply engrossing presentation followed by a very interesting Q&A sesssion.
