India has been known as the land of spices for more than 2000 years. One of India's most important contributions to the world's diversity of spices is the black pepper. It is said that the East India Company of the British established their outposts in India to collect and transport black pepper to England. Many other spices like cardamom, ginger, turmeric etc have had their roots in India. Today we celebrated 'Zayke ka Safar - India the land of spices'. The District Education Officer (chengalpattu district) presided over the occasion. Children brought food cooked with native spices and shared the spicy and delicious food with each other. Souvenirs of a variety of spices put inside sachets were gifted to all the teachers. It was indeed a SPICY day!!

Global warming is emerging as the biggest threat to mankind and all the other living things on Earth. Scientists have said that we cannot stop the process but we can slow down the pace at which it develops and reduce its impact, by acting wisely. The future generation has to be fully aware of the adverse impacts of global warming. With this in mind, a play and choreography under the banner 'FROZEN FRACTALS' was performed by the students of classes four and five to create awareness among the young minds.

Plants hold the breath of life on Earth. Without plants the diversity of life that we see in the form of ants, bees, birds and deer will not exist. Even people cannot survive in the absence of plants. There are more than 200,000 different species of plants on earth. They are practically everywhere, exhibiting diverse forms and functions. The fascination for plants as food, for shelter, as fodder and their ornamental leaves and flowers have induced humans to transport them around the globe. Even early humans appeased each other by gifting plants. Plants that moved from one place to another with the help of humans are called travelling plants. Today our students from class V to XII visited an exhibition on 'Travelling plants ' at Alliance Francaise. This exhibition was meant to create awareness in the public about the history and uses of travelling plants. The message was conveyed through a variety of artistic displays including Herbaria, drawings, photographs and demonstrations.

Starting as an initiative of the Ministry of Culture in 1982, the FĂȘte de la Musique has become a nationwide musical holiday every June 21st and a permanent part of the cultural calendar. Campus school commemorated this day by inviting Thiru S. John Bharati as the chief guest. He brought with him some of the little known musical instruments and demonstrated how they can be used. It was a fascinating experience as some of the old Indian instruments such as the 'Bulbul tara' and instruments made of bamboo were seen and its unique tones were experienced by many for the first time.

Creativity in children has no limits. Unfortunately the present curriculum offers little opportunity to channelize creativity into productive learning. The MCC Campus School has developed and sustained an innovative program called 'Young Creation'. This program that targets students from classes LKG to V encourages them to demonstrate their creativity through drawings and writings. Children are free to draw and write whatever comes to their minds. Here are some clips highlighting the creativity of our young minds.
