We are currently reading this excellent book titled & Powered by Design" authored by Renée Stevens. We've barely read the first few pages and can't praise it enough already.
There are a set of photos on a page which shows a graphic trying to explain the parking regulations to the driver. Here's what we noticed-
▶️This simply tells the amount of thought put into creating great designs. As a viewer, one might not find any hiccup in understanding the final piece of design and as a result, never encounters the problem of getting fined at all.
▶️The design seems effortless in the eyes of in the viewer due to this seamless communication of ideas - in this case, the parking regulations.
▶️As the following page beautifully tells - Design is thinking made visual!
Our further thoughts on this-
🔹Communicating ideas, thoughts, and concepts in an easy-to-understand way to the viewer is like the foundation to the building of a great design.
🔹To achieve this, the designer must play dual roles of viewer and designer to marry the technical and communication aspects of the design.
🔹And lastly - feedback!
Feedback helps designers a lot when playing the dual role often gets tough.
Look closely at the page consisting of the parking regulations designs. You will notice the designer. asking for feedback openly to measure the level of comprehension of the design among the audience.
🟥To sum it up, the true success of a design is established when the viewer is able to fathom its meaning in its entirety, almost in an instant.
