The Department of Economics - shift- II in collaboration with the Institution Innovation Council (IIC) is conducting a 2- day workshop titled A STEP TOWARDS STARTUP. The workshop focuses on Tees- shirt painting (Day 1) and Jewellery making (Day 2). The workshop is conducted exclusively for girls. The participants need to bring a white Tees- shirt, newspapers and a waste cloth. Other materials will be provided at the
venue.

The Institution’s Innovation Council and the Intellectual Property Rights Cell of DDGDVC organized an insightful session titled “IPR Basics for Innovators & Entrepreneurs.” The seminar aimed to create awareness among students about the importance of safeguarding creative and innovative ideas in today’s competitive environment.

The session began with a welcome and presidential address by our Principal, Capt. Dr. S. Santhosh Baboo, who emphasized the evolving role of IIC in the college. He highlighted that IIC, established over the past 3–4 years, has now taken a new dimension with a dynamic team. He reiterated that:
The growth of any institution is rooted in teamwork, irrespective of hierarchy.
Every member carries a sense of accountability, contributing to the collective progress of the college.
IIC plays a crucial role in effectively channelizing various academic and innovative activities within the institution.
With emerging multidisciplinary domains, students must understand that college is only the entry level, and how they grow afterward depends on their effort, discipline, and choices.
He also touched upon the importance of understanding the framework and pattern behind intellectual property and innovation.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Deepa Boppana, Registered Patent Attorney and Legal Expert from Bhavesh Associates & Intellpat Patent Solutions, delivered an informative and engaging presentation. She primarily focused on:

What Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) are and why they are essential for innovators and entrepreneurs.
The different forms of intellectual property and their significance.
The judicial and legal processes involved in protecting creative and technological innovations.
Step-by-step guidance on how students can avail IPR protection, right from filing to securing their rights.
Her session helped students understand how ideas can be converted into valuable assets and protected through legal frameworks.
