From Chalkboard to Chatbots: AI for Engineering Educators
Artificial Intelligence is rapidly transforming engineering practice, research, and education. For faculty, the question is no longer whether to engage with AI β but how to use it meaningfully in teaching, assessment, research, and curriculum delivery.
AI for Educators is a hands-on, faculty-centric FDP, designed especially for engineering educators β no computer science background required. This program will help faculty confidently and practically integrate AI into their academic roles.

π PALS Residential Studentsβ Workshop (RSW) 2025β26 | Batch 2 Concludes Successfully π
The second batch of the PALS Residential Studentsβ Workshop (RSW) was conducted from 22nd to 24th December 2025 at IIT Madras, bringing together an enthusiastic cohort of learners and educators under the theme Think β’ Create β’ Engineer.

Their engaging sessions, thought-provoking perspectives, and continued support added immense value to the RSW experience for both students and faculty.
The venue arrangements and logistics were exceptionally well managed, ensuring a smooth and immersive residential experience for all participants. Over three days, students collaborated intensively on projects, interacted with experts, and showcased their learning through prototype demonstrations evaluated by multiple jury panels.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and the Director IITM for their continued support, infrastructure, and encouragement, which played a crucial role in the successful ex*****on of RSW Batch 2.
Batch 2 truly reinforced the spirit of experiential learning, collaboration, and engineering excellence. We look forward to carrying this momentum forward in the upcoming batches.

π EDC 360Β° Conclave 2025 @ IIT Madras
PALS hosted the EDC 360Β° Conclave on 29 Nov 2025, bringing together 140+ leaders from Partner Institutes across TN, KA, KL, AP & TS. Principals, Deans, EDC Heads, Innovation Centre leads and student teams came together to strengthen the innovation & entrepreneurship ecosystem in engineering institutions.
Opening the session, Krishnamurti R Rao, PALS Champion, reflected on PALSβ 13-year journeyβfrom a small alumni initiative to a strong bridge connecting IITs, industry and institutions across South India and Nepal.
ποΈ Prof. Ashok Jhunjhunwala, Chairman β ITEL, delivered an inspiring keynote:
β’ Talent exists everywhere
β’ Entrepreneurship needs managerial, financial, legal & leadership skills
β’ With proper guidance, at least 15% students can sustain the entrepreneurial journey by solving meaningful local problems
π¬ The panel discussion anchored by Mr. Mohan Narayanan & Ms. Viji Sankar, featuring Dr C.R. Rene Robin, Dr R. Kumaravelan, Dr J. Arun Kumar, Dr Divyarani M.S., and Mr Sarju S, shared practical insights on:
β’ Building campus innovation ecosystems
β’ Academic models (credits, internships, entrepreneurship courses)
β’ Collaborating with industry & incubators
β’ Solving ground-level EDC challenges
π Prof. Satyanarayanan Seshadri (IITM) presented a structured 24-step pathway to teach entrepreneurship.
π‘ Dr. Shankar Venugopal (Mahindra & Mahindra) shared the innovation triad β Iccha Shakti, Gnana Shakti, Kriya Shakti β and the CREATE method for idea generation.
π Prof. Richa Agrawal (IITM) showcased IITMβs strong student-led innovation culture.
π’ Mr. Kishore Kumar (AICβAnna Incubator) highlighted incubation support & expectations from student startups.
π€ MoUs with Immersive Technology (ITEL) and AICβAnna Incubator opened new mentorship and incubation avenues.

Tinkathon is a one-day problem-solving workshop and the preliminary qualifier for the PALS Residential Student Workshop. This hands-on event ignites creativity through design, drawing, calculations, lateral thinking, and mini project challenges. The workshop featured an exciting Out-of-the-Box Quiz, engaging Design Thinking sessions, and hands-on projects that inspired participants to think differently and innovate beyond the ordinary. πβ¨
