A significant recognition of Panjab University’s continued efforts to preserve and promote India’s rich cultural heritage.

Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma appreciated the work of the Srimanta Sankardev Chair at PU, which was established by the Government of Assam, during his meeting with Prof. Yojna Rawat, Former Dean of University Instruction and Former Coordinator of the Chair.

During the interaction, Prof. Rawat highlighted the Chair’s initiatives in promoting research and academic scholarship on the life and works of Srimanta Sankardev, the Assamese saint, scholar and reformer.

Dr. Sarma commended these efforts and assured the Government of Assam’s support in further strengthening the Chair’s academic and research activities at PU.

Panjab University, Chandigarh, through the Srimanta Sankardev Chair, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Dibrugarh University, Assam.

The MoU aims to advance interdisciplinary research, faculty and student exchange, joint publications, and cultural collaboration centred on the legacy of Srimanta Sankardev and the Bhakti Movement.

The collaboration further seeks to preserve manuscripts through digitisation and establish an academic bridge between North-East India and Northern India.

Recording an overall attendance of 91.39%, as many as 2,909 candidates appeared on the second day of Panjab University’s CET (PG) 2026 for admission to 15 postgraduate courses.

Day 1 of Panjab University’s Combined Entrance Test (CET) for postgraduate courses recorded an impressive 91.17% attendance.

A total of 2,768 candidates from across the country appeared for the examinations conducted at 10 centres in Chandigarh, Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana and Sri Muktsar Sahib.
