A woman is r***d every 19min in our country. This data is the tip of the iceberg because the majority of rapes go unreported for fear of social shame. The voluminous, impressive laws remain in the law books. The law and order machinery is used more often to hush up crimes instead of catching criminals. The leaders who are sworn to ensure the protection of the civil society are, very often, predators themselves.
There is only one way out for women. Stand up and protect yourself. One suggestion is to demand that Taser stun guns be made legal for women. They are prohibited in India. Tasers are not lethal. They shoot two small arrows which emit electric current to paralyse the aggressor for a certain time. Raise your voice for this as a self-defence weapon. Meanwhile, get pepper sprays. I carry one.

Studies have revealed that every litre of bottled water contains 250000 nano plastics. Plastics creep into every part of our environment in more ways than we can imagine. They enter our dry rations stored in plastic jars, into the air we breathe, into our vegetables through contaminated soil and water; we even breathe in nano plastics released by polyfills in our duvets. Let us take an urgent call to revert to using desi cotton, steel, glass and natural fibres. We are committing slow su***de by contaminating ourselves with plastic, inviting cancer and a myriad of other diseases.
