The tussle for power shall never terminate. Or so spells out history.
The developments of the Cold War, between the United States of America, along with the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, along with the Warsaw Pact, has been the cradle for the 21st Century world order. The use of science to attain this unprecedented race to supremacy is unparalleled and continues alarmingly with space as the last frontier also being weaponized.
It is hard to think of mankind’s darkest deeds without mentioning the annihilation of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Did it cross the mind of Otto Hahn while receiving the Nobel Prize for chemistry that his discovery will be used to kill over a quarter of a million people and countless birds, animals and plants? I guess this should have been a lesson for humanity to not use nuclear weapons in armed conflict, but we tend to forget our past relatively quickly and the world raced on its way to attain preponderance in nuclear armoury.
The benign use of science in harmonious and developmental purposes has progressed and yet is overshadowed by the grimmer realities to attain hegemony. Science in its truest sense, easily delves into psychological and cultural amelioration. Allow me to share how science can play significant roles multidimensionally for peace and development. A new facet has emerged: data. Some consider it the fourth paradigm of science, suggesting that it came after three other paradigms. It is common knowledge that systematic collection and analysis of data aids a spectrum of entities in furthering their narratives. Data can be manipulated to psychologically dismantle or elevate realities. Data is the epicenter of information generation that allows decision making. Science should perpetuate the use of data and create synergies aimed at harnessing tidal energy; geothermal power; vaccinations; food distribution and reducing income disparity.
The oceans of the earth offer vast amounts of renewable energy. Technologies to harness the power of the seas are at an early stage of development. Even the most advanced technologies, namely tidal current and ocean wave still face considerable barriers and many obstacles remain. Research, development and innovation can help overcome those barriers. *
AI, Machine Learning and other such tools are increasing being used to tap in the top most layers of the earth and study the potential of harnessing this very cheap source of energy. The very shallow geothermal potential (vSGP) is increasingly recognized as a viable resource for providing clean thermal energy in urban and rural areas. This is primarily due to its reliability, low-cost installation, easy maintenance, and little constraints regarding ground-related laws and policies.
The race is on for governments and health science companies to roll out vaccines and other drugs in response to a growing pandemic. Today, the threat lies in the modern coronavirus (COVID-19) that continues to take its toll on the global population and economies. Health scientists have used every tool in their arsenal to crunch the numbers and find the ways to create the drugs the world needs, and AI and big data are both helping to lead the charge in this endeavor. The challenge though was only precipitated into serious efforts when people started dying. There are millions of viruses and these can become a threat at any point of time. It is only with the help of data that we can create solutions that lead to premptive vaccinations.
AI is undoubtedly on everyone's minds. The Deloitte's State of AI in the Enterprise Survey reports that 63 percent of companies are employing AI or machine learning in their businesses, and 88 percent plan to increase spending in the coming year. AI's ability to adapt to changing environments is key to its growing popularity. The point to be noted according to Dr. Parmjit Singh (President of the Chandigarh Medical Association) is that while the medical science fraternity does remarkable work and scientists in the fields of medical research are increasingly turning to AI, it still is the profit-oriented business houses who do the maximum spending and development. What is alarming he says is that the critical areas of public health and malnutrition are ignored. The available data can be channelised into creating research which should fundamentally cover the discrepancies related to health in these.
On the other hand, I am also uplifted by the words of ‘Vinod Khosla’, an American Billionaire Businessman and Co-founder of Sun Microsystems declared –
“In the next 10 years, Data Science and Software will do more for Medicines than all of the Biological Sciences together.”
Data regarding ancient practices that kept the fragile equilibrium between the mother and the child intact should be restudied. The analogy is between the earth and us. ‘Konrad Hinsen’, points out that the principles of data science are much older than most of today’s practitioners imagine. Apollonius, Hipparchus, and Ptolemy, applied these principles about 2000 years ago. The ancient civilisations of Harrapa and Mohenjo-Daro used some from of data mining to design their cities and their irrigations systems. The creation of the wonders of the world revolved around facets based on data.
The youth of our country spend an inordinate time preparing for the JEE exams in order to get into the best colleges in the country and end up learning what their parents did. They eventually will end up as scientists whereas if they focus on mastering the mysteries of technologies that will work to elevate the use of science in peace and development, the world will be a better place. It is imperative that younger people take the lead and create visionary pools of talent working towards a shared goal and cohesive action using science in truest essence.
The human spirit is linked to this universe and all the lessons we need are around us. We should let science bring us to the rightful spot of leaving a legacy for future generations to carry forward, filled with peace, compassion and progress which is spiritual and evolutionary in nature.

Every piece of a student's success lies in the dogged determination of her/his teacher. We focus on our students' success through experience, deep learning, qualifications and the proof of our prodigy as we like to call them. They also consider us their coaches and mentors for life, since our first infusion in their lives is a top notch admission which would entail a few requirements such as the.AP, SAT, TSA,ESAT,STEM,EJU, We are accredited and accomplished in all these and all subjects.
