The topic was “𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗨𝗦 𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗳 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆 “

The in-depth discussion and brainstorming provided a structured understanding of how trade policy functions as a strategic economic instrument rather than merely a revenue mechanism.

The discussion examined the historical context of trade liberalisation, persistent trade deficits, and the gradual transition of the US from a manufacturing-driven to a service-oriented economy. Particular emphasis was placed on global supply chains, capital flows, and the institutional role of the 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 in shaping trade norms.

Overall, the session strengthened conceptual clarity on the intersection of tariffs, competitiveness, and long-term macroeconomic outcomes, and was thoroughly insightful and engaging for students

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗹 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗵𝗮 and 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗶 set the ball rolling for interaction with students, and Program head, 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗶 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗿𝗮 presided over.
