Computer Languages and Their Founders

Computer languages are used to communicate instructions to a computer. They help developers build software, websites, apps, and more. Each language has its own syntax, structure, and purpose. Here are a few popular ones and their founders:

C Language – Developed by Dennis Ritchie in the early 1970s at Bell Labs. It's widely used for system programming and has influenced many other languages like C++ and Java.

C++ – Created by Bjarne Stroustrup in 1983 as an extension of C, adding object-oriented features.

Java – Developed by James Gosling and his team at Sun Microsystems in 1995. It's platform-independent, making it popular for web and mobile apps.

Python – Created by Guido van Rossum in 1991. Known for its readability and simplicity, it's great for beginners and used in data science, AI, and web development.

JavaScript – Developed by Brendan Eich in 1995 while working at Netscape. It's mainly used for web development to make websites interactive.

PHP – Created by Rasmus Lerdorf in 1994. It's a server-side scripting language commonly used for web development.

Ruby – Developed by Yukihiro Matsumoto (Matz) in the mid-1990s. Known for its elegance and used in web development (e.g., Ruby on Rails).

MIT's acceptance rate is hovering around a record 4% right now, but back in the late 19th century, it was a different story. The first class of students who registered in 1865 weren't required to takeΒ  formal entrance exams. They just needed to be "properly prepared." In 1869, the MIT Corporation finally decided to add qualifying exams in required subject areas, including English, Geometry, Algebra, and Arithmetic.
