STEPPING STONES CELEBRATES NATIONAL MATHEMATICS DAY
December 22, 2021 :
National Mathematics day was Celebrated at Stepping Stones School to mark the birthday of Shri Srinivasa Ramanujan, a genius who made exemplary contribution to the field of Mathematics.
The Mathematics day was celebrated with objective of creating awareness about importance of mathematics in day to day life situation and also to create students interest in studying the Mathematics.
As part of the celebrations, the following activities were carried out as detailed below :
Class 6
Formation of 3D shapes for example (cube, cuboid, square and pyramid) and finding no. of edges , vertices and faces of each of these.
Class 7
Formation of nets of cylinder, cone, 3D shapes (like cube, cuboid, square pyramid) and then verifying the Euler’s formulae for each of these.
Class 8
Formation of flash cards based on types of quadrilaterals with their properties followed with discussion/demonstration by students.
Class 9
To construct the idea of Probability an activity was conducted for the students to make them connected and its uses in real life . In this students constructed their game regarding any event and will find out the probability of the occurrence of the event.
Class 10
Measurement of heights and distances in and around school using a Clinometer, followed by a Quiz based on Mathematical Reasoning. The Quiz was an inter section one, in which Class 10 (I) came 1st followed by Class 10 Pie in the runner’s up position. Class 10 (Theta) came third. Knowledge of practical application of the concepts of Volumes and Surface Areas was also imparted through experiential learning activities based on objects found in our surroundings .
The students participated in the above programmes with great zeal and enthusiasm and enjoyed the hands on activities.

Wearing mask in public is s proven way to stop the spread of Covid 19 virus. To encourage students to wear masks, a mask painting activity was organized for class VI students. Students expressed their creativity in painting various masks. These activities are the frequent reminders to wear masks properly.

Recognising the vital role of the schools in spreading the swachhta awareness and implementation across the country, CBSE directed all schools to observe the Swachhta Pakhwada from September 1 to 15 , 2021
Under this directive, Stepping Stones School, Chandigarh enthusiastically organized various activities for the realisation of the programme.
1. Students took a pledge on cleanliness to mark Swachhta Shapath Day
2. Discussion on the importance of cleanliness & sanitation and importance of Hand-washing, Use of Mask & Social Distancing.
3. PowerPoint presentation on the steps of handwashing was shown to motivate students to improve their handwashing habits.
4. Documentary was shown on personal hygiene.
5. Students distributed masks and sanitizers to the nearby area to reinforce the Covid protocols.
