Br. Ramees EK has been elected SIO National President of SIO of India for the term 2023-24. May Allah give him istaqamat, hikamah and sabr.
Br. Ramees hails from Kuttiyadi in Kozhikode district of Kerala. He has completed his MA in Political Science from the University of Hyderabad. He is currently pursuing PhD in Political Science from Jamia Millia Islamia.
Ramees served as a member of Zonal Advisory Council of SIO Kerala from 2016 to 2018 and edited its online magazine Campus Alive for a year. Before his current responsibility he was the Campus Secretary of SIO Delhi in 2019-20 term.
At HCU, he was at the forefront of student movement demanding justice and security for marginalised students in campuses in the aftermath of Dalit Scholar Rohith Vemula's institutional killing. At Jamia, he was among the student leaders spearheading the agitation against CAA-NRC.
