The birth of the school is closely associated with the renaissance movement among muslims of Kerala in the beginning years of 20th century. The reformers were having a noble vision. But the response was negative and they started another “madrassa’ in “ Sheikumthodi “house and sooner it shifted to “ Kannadath house” and it is named as “ Ihyaul Uloom “. Janab Madathingal Abdul Khader Haji was the frequent visitor to this “madrassa’ and he and his like minded friends decided to relocate the same to “ Kaithavalappu” in the premises donated by Madathingal Abdul Khader Haji. He requested his friends to meet Janab Umbichy Hajee his first cousin in connection with the financial assistance for the construction of Madrassa during Hajis visit to Chaliyam from Colombo. As scheduled, they met Janab Umbichy Hajee and realizing tis social importance he offered all the support to this endeavor. In addition to this, he offered liquid cash and one building in Calicut City. Meanwhile Madathil Abdul Khader Haji proposed the idea of forming an association for the smoothness of these activities and as such “ Thenmiyathul Islam Association was formed and it is registered in the year 1936 with its byelaws. “ Ihyaul |Uloom “ madrassa was renamed to Madrasathul Manar Higher Elementary School and later to Umbichy High School in and now it is Umbichy Hajee Higher Secondary School from the year 2000 onwards. It is worth noting that this temple of learning has come to the reality with the selfless effort of great visionaries in and around Chaliyam , of these Janab PBI Bava Hajee is a name to be ever remembered.
