The famous clay dolls of Joynagar Mojilpur, a city in the district of South 24 Parganas of rural Bengal, boasts an unparalleled earthen appeal of its own. These uniquely baked clay dolls are presently manufactured single handedly by Sambhu Das, the grandson of legendary doll-making artist, Manmatha Das, who had originally started this form of art a long time ago.
The use of a wide array of colours makes these figurines look exclusive and lively. Garjan oil used on these dolls enhances their lustre and makes them more appealing to look at.

The painstaking and laborious process involves making a replica of the product with wax over a clay core, upon which the finer details are delicately added. Thereafter, another layer of soft clay is applied to cover the entire model. After sun drying, molten brass is poured through a small hole, which melts away the wax. Finally, after cooling, the exquisite work of art emerges. The unpolished look is kept intact, and no external chemical polish is applied to our products.
