On September 15,1998 Burdwan University Executive Council resolved to set up an engineering institute at the University Campus under the direct control and management of the University of Burdwan named- UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY. On September 16, 1999 Burdwan University Court approved the resolution. As per provisions of the Burdwan University Act under Section 2 Sub-section 16 & 17 the i

nstitute enjoys the status of a Professional College run and managed by the University. With the approval of Govt of West Bengal and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), three graduate engineering courses, viz., Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology were introduced from the academic year 2000-01. Applied Electronics & Instrumentation was introduced from the academic year 2003-04. Electrical Engineering and Civil Engineering have been introduced from the academic year 2008-09.

Dipak Kumar Giri joins Aerospace Department of Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur as an Inspire Professor.
He received his BE degree from the "Applied Electronics and Instrumentation" department of UIT Burdwan in 2007. Later he went on to pursue his ME in Control Systems from Jadavpur University followed by his PhD from IIT Kharagpur. Before joining IIT Kanpur he was employed in Smart Labs, Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Entire UIT feel immensely proud of his achievement and wholeheartedly congratulate him. We strongly believe that this is only the beginning and will inspire many of our students to follow similar career paths.
Even though his is a busy person, he would be more than pleased to address any queries to his inbox by students.
