A Formal Welcome to Our New Principal

A formal welcome meeting was held today at 10:00 AM in the College Conference Hall to extend a warm welcome to our new Principal, Sri Bhagaban Satapathy.

The meeting was attended by the teaching and non-teaching staff of the college, who expressed their wholehearted support and best wishes for his tenure.

In his address, Sri Bhagaban Satapathy emphasized that the progress and success of the institution depend on cooperation, collective responsibility, and team spirit. He called upon every member of the college family to work together with dedication and mutual respect to take the institution to greater heights.

We warmly welcome him to the People’s College Buguda family and wish him a successful, inspiring, and fruitful journey as our Principal.

Together, let us build a stronger institution through unity, commitment, and excellence.

12th International Day of Yoga Celebrated at People’s College, Buguda

The 12th International Day of Yoga was celebrated with great enthusiasm at People’s College, Buguda, on 21 June 2026. The programme was organized in accordance with the official theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” highlighting the importance of yoga in promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being at every stage of life.

The event assumed special significance and emotional value as it coincided with the impending retirement of Sri K. R. Patra, Physical Education Teacher (PET), whose dedicated service to the institution has spanned many years. As one of the major events of the People’s College Buguda Sports Association for the upcoming academic session, the occasion provided an opportunity to recognize and honour his invaluable contributions.

Sri Patra was felicitated by Dr. Purusottam Mishra, Principal, People’s College, Buguda, and Dr. Subhransu Sekhar Sethy, Proprietor, BS Fitness, Buguda, who praised his commitment to sports, fitness, and student development.

The celebration also featured a yoga competition in which students enthusiastically demonstrated various yogic postures and techniques. Prizes were awarded to the best performers in recognition of their excellence and dedication.

The programme concluded with a renewed commitment to incorporating yoga into daily life and promoting a culture of health, discipline, and well-being among students and staff.

Unexpectedly, I received a call from the Department of Zoology inviting me, at short notice, to attend their practical class on blood grouping and testing. Curious and amused, I made my way there.

On arrival, I was greeted warmly by Sri Ramakrushna Nayak. With the affection of a bosom friend, he held my hand — and without much delay, gently pricked a sharp needle onto my left ring finger. Instantly, two things emerged simultaneously: a painful “Oh!” from my mouth and tiny drops of blood from my finger.

The testing procedure followed, and soon it was confirmed — I am A-positive. In short, I can proudly say that I donated my blood to the Zoology Department!

Humour aside, I must sincerely add that the class was truly educative, demonstrative, and skill-enhancing. It was a practical, hands-on session filled with meaningful interaction and learning.
