Date: June 5, 2025
St. Xavier’s Public School, Chalantapara
Enthusiastically observed World Environment
Day on June 5th, 2025, underlining the theme Ending plastic pollution and EK PED MA
KE NAM.
The day commenced with a special morning assembly dedicated as an awareness
programme. The principal and students presented speeches, emphasizing the critical
importance of biodiversity conservation, sustainable living practices, and the urgent
need for collective action against environmental degradation.
Following the assembly, the school actively participated in greening initiatives. Students
and staff engaged in the “planting of saplings”within the school compound, adding to the
campus greenery and fostering a sense of ownership for the local environment.
Recognizing the importance of instilling environmental values early, the school organized
a distribution of saplings to Pre-primary students.
Each young learner received a sapling to nurture at home, symbolizing the planting of
responsibility and care for nature from the very beginning of their educational journey.
The school furthered its environmental initiative by distributing 5 saplings to a nearby
Senior Secondary Government School, promoting greenery and sustainability in the
local community.
To extend the message beyond the school walls, an awareness programme about World
Environment Day was sent to parents via social media platforms. This digital outreach
aimed to engage families in the school's commitment and encourage eco-conscious
practices within the wider community.
The day successfully combined education, practical action, student involvement, and
community engagement, reinforcing St. Xavier's dedication to fostering environmen
